Description

Quantech Services is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to join our team in Hanover, MD. The ideal candidate is a seasoned AWS Cloud Engineer with proven experience in the Department of Defense cloud technology (AWS), Python programming skills, and a strong Linux foundation. Will significantly contribute to the development of custom software components and integration of open-source code to address complex time series analysis problems through the use of cutting edge Big Data / Cloud technology. Work is performed in a hybrid role with some work on customer site in Hanover, MD and on site in Columbia, MD.

 

Job Duties

  • Support development and deployment of cloud infrastructure in AWS.

  • Using strong systems integratiomn skills enhance, optimize, and ncrease robustness of an existing code base.

  • Leverage modern tools to define, build and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud.  

  • Design and implement core architecture and capabilities for software from prototype to operational applications.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role mostly sitting; however, some filing may be required . This would require the ability to move files, or boxes with file data, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary, ability to lift up to 40lbs.

Mental Demands: Reading; communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control and professionalism.

Requirements

Clearance:  

  • Active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance is required.

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 9+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering including operations, management, design, and development of cloud-based applications and capabilities OR Masters in related field and 7 years relevant experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  •  

Other Experience: 

  • Strong Knowledge of AWS services (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda) and their application to deployment and management of infrastructure.

  • 3+ years experience with Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.)

  • Must have experience writing in Python and working on the Linux Command Line.

  • Designing, building, and managing infrastructure configured according to the DoD Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA) and DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (DoD CC SRG)

  • Must have experience automating cloud configuration using tooling such as Terraform, AWS Config, Ansible, etc.

  • Work autonomously actively identifying areas for improvement.

  • Able to collaborate with existing platform architects on long term and strategic architectural changes to the platform.

  • Strong understanding of cloud networking best practices

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 3-4 days per week at our Fort Meade, MD customer site or our local Columbia, MD office. However, flexibility is essential to accommodate any changes in the schedule

 

  • Preferred Requirements- any of the following AWS Certifications are highly desired:

    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional

    • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional

    • AWS Certified Security – Specialty

    • AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty

    • AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty

    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate

    • AWS Certified Developer – Associate

    • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate
