About the Role
As the Senior Cloud Engineer, you play a key role in implementing, testing, maintaining, and operating Pulse Bioscience’s back end-based (cloud and on-prem) services that support Pulse medical devices. The individual will interface with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Pulse representatives in the field. The individual will deliver, test, and maintain cross-functional features, contribute to API definition, storage infrastructure, and identify potential field issues.
You’ll Make an Impact By:
- Developing, deploying, maintaining, and monitoring cloud based, Linux server based, PC based, and web app-based features and applications.
- Executing and documenting test plans for the above.
- Defining manual and automated test plans.
- Developing, deploying, maintaining and monitoring automated testing.
- Creating and maintaining technical and regulatory documentation.
To Excel, You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other technical field or equivalent experience required.
- 5+ years in medical device (FDA) regulatory requirements and processes, cloud-based application development and administration, and software testing.
- Experience with relational database definition and use.
- Experience with DevOps procedures, processes, and technologies (e.g. Jenkin).
- Medical device industry experience preferred.
- Able to work both independently as well as in a closely coordinating team.
- Able to work with remote team members.
- Able to multitask and juggle conflicting and changing priorities.
- Excellent programming, troubleshooting, debugging, testing skills, in multi-language, distributed, concurrent, and event driven environments.
- Able to apply a tester’s mindset.
- Solid knowledge of Python, shell, C/C++, SQL.
- Knowledge of Amazon Web Services: lambda, EC2, S3, Dynamo, CloudWatch, SNS, SQS, VPC.
- Solid knowledge of Linux system administration.
- Familiarity with web application development and technologies.
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS/Typescript and app-based (e.g. Swing, GTK, Qt, Tcl/Tk) user interface technologies.
- Knowledge of data definition and format technologies, e.g. Json, XML, YAML, ProtoBuf.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Excellent oral written communication skills and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work conscientiously and with minimal direction, using good judgment, taking initiative to accomplish short and long-range projects, and recommending actions with minimal direction.
- Ability to work as a team member, multi-task, and be very flexible to adapt to the ever-changing work priorities and requirements of a dynamic, fast-growing company.
- Ability to lift 10-15 pounds.

Pay Range:
Compensation is determined based on a wide range of factors including location, job-related skills, experience, education, and training. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. This pay range is specific to Northern California location. Base salary range: $150K - $180K
