Software/Platform Engineer - Grant-Funded (PT)

Salary: $65.00 per hour

This is a grant-funded position. Grant-funded positions expire either at the end of the stated term or whenever funding for the position ceases.

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a part-time Software/Platform Engineer in our School of STEM-Transfer. The Software/Platform Engineer works on the NSA/CAE National Competition grant-funded project. Successful candidates will assist with design, production, and implementation of the competition platform and exercises.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Designs and implements virtual networks, virtual machines, and virtual services;
  • Creates vulnerabilities within virtual systems and corresponding exploits;
  • Creates a scoring infrastructure including score-able services/challenges and tabulation and visualization functionality;
  • Creates and implements monitoring and management tools within the virtual infrastructure;
  • Produces tutorials, walk-throughs, and guides for faculty and staff participants;
  • Produces technical documentation sufficient to ensure future scalability of effort;
  • Administers and supports virtual platform hardware and network connectivity.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President and Technical Director within the NSA/CAE National competition project.

Successful candidate must be available to work up to 29 hours per week. The work schedule for this position will be based on the needs of the department and the availability of the applicant. 

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher
  • Two (2) years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or information security
  • Must live in New York State and have the ability to work remotely 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cybersecurity competition design and implementation experience
