Job Description:
This job is responsible for partnering with engineering and technology teams to improve reliability and observability for the services it supports. Key responsibilities include planning and implementing instrumentation, tooling, ticketing, alerting and on call routines as defined in observability designs, and engaging in production triage and Problem Management. Job expectations include supporting code enhancements to automate services and improve reliability and observability while expanding knowledge to identify gaps in the observability design or implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops software or system scripts to simplify or eliminate the dependence on human intervention for recurring tasks
  • Identifies vulnerabilities and opportunities for reliability improvement, such as investigating low level error rates and 'noise' in monitoring, and to help define solutions to reduce manual support effort and/or improve system reliability
  • Engages in an regular routines,  and works with Technology Support teams to transfer knowledge, update playbooks, conduct training for new monitoring capabilities, and learn more about reliability issues affecting portfolios
  • Contributes to a catalog of reliability tools and libraries that can be leveraged for common instrumentation, automation, and operational needs by Core Hosting Support.
  • Leverages guidance from the team and works with monitoring and automation tools to establish/enhance monitoring/observability solutions and plans created to support continuous improvement efforts

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a 4-year degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3+ years of Automation Engineer working experience.
  • Experience in DevOps and GitOps. 
  • Experience in enterprise-scale environments.
  • Experience in programming and infra-automation tools – Ansible, Java, python, etc.
  • Experience with BMC TrueSight Orchestration
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language (i.e. Bash, Powershell, Python).
  • Experience in RHEL and/or Windows System Administration.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work in a global team.

Pay and benefits information

Pay range

$95,000.00 - $155,500.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
