Data Tech seeks a dynamic, highly motivated delivery-oriented service system, engineer to join our team. The team is responsible for building, maintaining, and providing support for the data ecosystem, which includes, but not limited to, Azure infrastructure provisioning, development, platform code development, application services/support, site reliability engineering, disaster recovery, data security, data protection, and platform compliance.  In this high-impact technical role, you will operate discovery tools, analyze findings, validate results, prioritize remediation, and script automations. You will partner closely with infrastructure, platform, and security operations teams to mitigate potential exposure risks to GEICO, and actively mentor team members.

The candidate will be part of a team that is responsible for data security, data protection, and platform compliance.  Additional functions include application onboarding, infrastructure provisioning, and onboarding of new PaaS/SaaS services in the cloud, while providing full application & infrastructure development lifecycle support across all environments including production support.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in leading projects from inception to implementation in a robust, timely and cost-effective manner.

The candidate must be able to provide direction and feedback during design/topology reviews, think strategically, have strong desire to ensure that the team meets the highest standards in triage, analysis, and project management. Position requires solid experience in building partnerships with business stakeholders, development teams,  architects and senior engineers across the enterprise to design build and implement automated and cost effective enterprise solutions, provide guidance on enterprise security governance, respond to internal Incidents  and operational support, triage and remediate issues efficiently for maximum availability of the platform while embracing agile methodologies and building SRE culture and practices.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skill sets: 


Technical Qualifications: 

  • Strong, proven experience as a System Engineer in a scalable production environment built on any major cloud platform.
  • 1+ Year of experience utilizing Ansible/AWS scheduler to schedule and auto implement vulnerabilities resolution process.
  • 4-5 years of experience supporting complex business applications in a large enterprise environment
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Azure cloud environments & its offerings (PaaS, SaaS or IaaS) to design, build, implement and document enterprise solutions.
  • Proven experience in supporting Python and/or Bash development lifecycle for enterprise level applications in an Agile environment. 
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership for the infrastructure vulnerability management and external surface coverage program, partnering with stakeholders across the company
  • Own the vision, develop the strategy, and execute on the plan to operate the program at scale, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with organizational goals
  • Analyze public and private vulnerability and exploit code, deeply understanding and assessing the technical details and potential impact across GEICO’s infrastructure, services, and applications
  • Investigate, triage, and prioritize vulnerabilities, identifying severity and scope of potential impact, and supporting response and remediation efforts with engineering teams
  • Engineer high-quality, scalable, and accurate vulnerability detection mechanisms, leveraging automation and advanced tooling
  • Design, implement, and maintain automation, tools, and workflows to enhance operational capabilities and efficiency
  •  Proven experience with Linux and Windows Operating System concepts and commands.
    Proven experience multi-tasking by balancing delivery of multiple simultaneous projects, working with applications teams to deliver hosting platforms with aggressive timelines.
  • Proven experience implementing and maintaining open-source systems and tooling
  •  Proven experience in troubleshooting issues across multiple applications and platforms. 
  •  Willing and being able to provide support 24x7 for the platform on an on-call rotation basis. 

Soft Skills: 

  •  Proven experience with Agile practices, methodologies (Sprint planning, Daily Scrums, Backlog grooming and updating ADO artifacts to ensure work is tracked appropriately) and Atlassian Products (Jira, Confluence, Service Desk).
  • Strong conceptualization abilities, detailed oriented, critical/analytical thinking & troubleshooting skills with ability to work independently and deliver consistent results.
  • Strong team player with a desire to learn by collaborating within peers and other teammates 
  • Effective organization and communication skills, both written and verbal to the extent of communicating technical issues to non-technical stakeholders eloquently. 

Preferred:

  • Proven experience in supporting cloud solutions across PaaS and IaaS platform for cloud services, AKS services using SQL, ASB, Cosmos DB, Redis Cache, App Insights, Log analytics and other 3rd party software’s like Splunk, Dynatrace etc.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts (DNS/DHCP/Firewalls/Sub-netting, etc.).  
    Highly knowledgeable about Kubernetes internal workings and Helm chart development. Preferable Kubernetes Certified.
  • Experience with Configuration Management systems (i.e. Puppet, Ansible, Chef).
  • Automation of vulnerabilities resolution utilizing Ansible or similar tools through a scheduled method.
  • Proven experience in coaching and mentoring junior and offshore team members. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/information technology or related field. 
  • Experience with Big Data Technologies, Snowflake, Spark, Databricks, Kafka, Mongo DB, Postgres etc. is a plus
  • Experience with streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka, Flink, or Spark Streaming. 
  • Expertise in data governance, security, and compliance within large-scale data systems. 


 

Annual Salary

$100,000.00 - $230,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
