As a Lead Software Engineer DevOps at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Investment Bank Digital Enablement Team, you will apply deep knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. You will continue to evolve your technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of your aligned domain of expertise, contributing to the modernization and resilience of our technology landscape.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver critical infrastructure engineering solutions across multiple technical areas as part of an agile team.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines; automate build, test, security scanning, and deployment workflows.
- Provision and manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform; standardize modules and enforce best practices.
- Deploy and operate container platforms (EKS/ECS); optimize cluster capacity, networking, and autoscaling.
- Diagnose and resolve production incidents end-to-end; lead root-cause analysis and drive preventive actions.
- Implement and support core AWS services, including S3, SNS, SQS, RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, and ElastiCache/Redis.
- Integrate and manage artifact repositories and build tools (e.g., JFrog Artifactory, Maven/Gradle).
- Establish secure container image pipelines, including vulnerability scanning and policy enforcement.
- Implement observability and alerting using tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Plan and execute disaster recovery and multi-region readiness; validate failover and RTO/RPO targets.
- Ensure security and compliance, including IAM least privilege, encryption, secret management, and code scanning.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- DevOps or infrastructure engineering experience.
- Deep knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering such as hardware, networking, databases, storage, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, or performance assessments.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, Groovy) for automation and infrastructure management.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and multiple cloud technologies, with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD tools and practices, including pipeline automation and governance.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, EKS/ECS).
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools, such as Terraform, for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
- Commitment to continuous learning and development of technical and cross-functional knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills
- AWS Solutions Architect, Kubernetes CKA, Terraform Associate, or similar certifications.
- Experience with event streaming and messaging platforms (e.g., Kafka, AWS SQS).
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to document standards and procedures.
- Bias toward automation and continuous improvement.
- Experience supporting audits and penetration tests, including security best practices.
- Ability to collaborate with third-party technical teams and cloud support services.
