This is a high-impact role with the autonomy to integrate new technologies and make key architectural decisions that shape the future of our platform.

You’ll work with a massive microservices ecosystem, diverse data stores, and one of the most advanced security configurations in the industry. Your mission: ensure seamless uptime, scalability, and security across all systems—while enabling rapid, automated provisioning and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable, and resilient production infrastructure across cloud environments.
  • Manage and optimize MongoDB including managed service reliability, troubleshooting Atlas cluster issues, and ensuring high availability at scale.
  • Drive system-wide automated alerting and monitoring strategies for infrastructure and database environments.
  • Own the uptime and reliability of large-scale systems, including databases and distributed services.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Engineering, Product, Security, and Operations teams to scale and secure our cloud-native platform.
  • Enforce security and compliance best practices (e.g., FedRAMP, SOC 2) throughout the SDLC.
  • Evaluate and lead proof-of-concept projects for new tools or services that strengthen system performance and security posture.
  • Build Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and provide on-call support for incident resolution and recovery.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship (Required)

  • 5+ years of experience managing Linux servers in a global, cloud-based environment.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure and cloud services.
  • 5+ years of experience with Python and Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Proven experience managing MongoDB in production, including troubleshooting cluster performance, auto-scaling, and service reliability.
  • Expertise in large-scale systems operations and database reliability engineering (DBRE).
  • Strong understanding of automated alerting, incident triage, and monitoring best practices.
  • Deep knowledge of networking (e.g., routing tables, service mesh, CNI).
  • 3+ years experience with IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Ability to independently manage tasks, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with government-related projects requiring US citizenship.
  • Background in security and compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, GDPR, or SOC 2.
  • Experience in sensitive or restricted environments (e.g., FIPS, SELinux, air-gapped).
  • Prior roles focused on database reliability engineering or MongoDB at scale.
