The Leidos Partnership for Defense Health is seeking a Sr. DevOps Infrastructure Engineer to work REMOTELY and support its $4.6B single award DHMSM IDIQ contract, known as MHS GENESIS.  This highly visible program provides modernization of Electronic Health Records (EHR) capabilities for the Department of Defense, supporting nearly 10 million service members and their families worldwide. While every healthcare system is addressing quality, user experience and cost, the MHS GENESIS program has the added challenge of delivering these objectives within the DOD security environment, at the DOD’s global scale, all while supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA)’s vision of a medically ready force ─ which is essential to our national defense.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The Sr. DevOps Infrastructure Engineer will join the Digital Health team as a key team member responsible for the team’s DevSecOps toolsets used across all projects.  Your efforts will support the entire team’s implementation, deployment, and sustainment of new capabilities for the portfolio of virtual health solutions.  Primary responsibilities include:

  • Manage the DevOps/Platform engineering teams and work assignments to meet schedule requirements.

  • Provide build and operations engineering support for the digital health solution hosting environments in AWS GovCloud and on-premise hypervisor data center environment.

  • Schedule and coordinate the DevOps/Platform engineering team’s Cyber engineering, STIG, POA&M authoring, and remediation efforts in the AWS GovCloud infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with team members and support resolution of build/configure and operational issues, employing best practice in troubleshooting and resolving tickets received from the user community.

  • Support the scheduling and execution of pipeline build and deployment activities (GitLab) within the project’s datacenter hosting environments.

  • Coordinate support with the Tier 1/Tier 2 Customer Support teams and COTS vendor engineering, as required, to resolve build and operational tickets.

  • Follow DHMSM Change Management (CM) and Release Management (RM) practices.

  • Perform peer reviews and contribute to the design and use of Infrastructure as Code (analyze, design, build, test, deploy, support) for large scale infrastructure implementations.

  • Support the planning to introduce new capabilities, enhancements, and application patching of existing capabilities.

  • Ability to understand/learn new technologies when encountered.

  • Support the integration of commercial products with MHS-GENESIS solutions to meet functional requirements, working within the guidelines of the client’s infrastructure.

  • Communicate with Product Team Owners, application development and integration team, network team, and application security team.

  • Work independently within a matrixed organization.

  • Resolves highly complex problems applying technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation.  Develops solutions that are highly innovative and achieved through research and integration of best practices.

REQUIRED Qualifications

  • US Citizen with EXISTING ADP1/IT1 Public Trust (or higher) clearance and completed Tier 5 background investigation. Federal Government requirement.

  • BS Degree and 12-15 years or MS and 10-13 years of prior relevant experience with greater than 6 years leading DevOps/Platform engineering teams.

  • AWS GovCloud Architect or AWS DevOps certification

  • SAFe Agile Certification (or equivalent)

  • Cybersecurity issue resolution, STIG application

  • Implementation experience with:

  • 6+ yrs. AWS GovCloud configuration and operations use (EC2, Lambda, EKS, ECS, S3, etc.)

  • Large enterprise AWS Kubernetes (EKS) implementation experience

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) design, deployment, migration, and sustainment (Terraform, Ansible, GitLab pipeline automation, etc.)

  • DevSecOps Engr experience, service mgmt., container to cluster migration

  • GitLab (CI/CD pipeline)

  • Jira, Confluence

  • Linux (RHEL or Debian/Ubuntu)

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, ability to communicate technical concepts and present solution options to resolve identified issues.

  • Understanding of software development (including testing) methodologies, and cross functional experience throughout life-cycle phases.

  • Occasional non-core hours support to the Operations team support to maintain the 24/7 operations requirement or to meet project deadlines - as required.

PREFERRED Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on, full-time AWS cloud experience highly desirable

  • Prior DevOps experience with DOD/DHA

  • Implementation experience with:

  • Windows Server (2016, 2019, 2022)

  • Twilio audio/video services, Twilio SMS text services, Pexip video

  • SIP trunk integration

  • MongoDB

  • Elasticache

  • Docker

  • Scripting: BASH/shell, Python, or Golang (Go)

  • Jump Cloud / KeyCloak OIDC

  • HashiCorp applications (Packer, Terraform, Consul, Vault)

  • Windows 2016, 2019

  • RHEL & Ubuntu

  • Large scale infrastructure implementation and sustainment
