Responsibilities






We are currently seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer in support of the IRS MIDS contract. The Senior DevOps Engineer will play a pivotal role in the continuous delivery and lifecycle management of our customer’s software applications. With a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of both coding and infrastructure, this engineer will be instrumental in automating processes, optimizing systems, and ensuring the reliability and security of production environments. They will act as a leader and mentor within the broader team, guiding the adoption of DevOps culture and practices while fostering collaboration between developers, system administrators, and QA personnel. As the architect of deployment strategies and steward of system health, the Senior DevOps Engineer is critical in bridging the gap between complex technical challenges and business goals, ensuring that software delivery is as efficient and effective as possible.

 

What you will do:

  • Designing and implementing infrastructure as code (IaC) to automate the setup, scaling, and management of IT resources.
  • Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to enable quick and reliable code deployment across various environments.
  • Monitoring and ensuring the reliability and performance of applications and services in production.
  • Collaborating with software developers, system operators, and other IT staff to oversee code releases and deployments.
  • Optimizing system performance by conducting system troubleshooting and problem-solving across platform and application domains.
  • Ensuring security best practices are integrated into the development lifecycle, including compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Managing and maintaining infrastructure, including services and in-house hardware, to meet the organization's needs.
  • Researching and implementing new technologies and tools to drive continuous improvement in the software delivery process.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to fellow team members and promoting a culture of knowledge sharing.
  • Documenting technical procedures, configurations, and the architecture of deployed solutions.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand requirements, set priorities, and communicate progress and challenges.








Qualifications






  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD. Additional years of experience maybe accepted in lieu of the degree
  • Expert in a variety of Infrastructure as Code tools - Terraform, Ansible, Morpheus
  • Expert in a variety of Automation Tools and languages – Jenkins, Selenium, Python, Powershell
  • Expert in DevOps/DevSecOps CI/CD pipeline development with GitLab and/or GitHub
  • Expert in implementing DevSecOps CI/CD Pipeline security scanning tools such as NueVector
  • Expert in infrastructure virtual hosting platforms, both traditional and Containerized – VMWare, Openshift, Kubernetes
  • Must be a US Citizen

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with deploying, integrating, and using the Morpheus platform
  • Experience working in a government agency environment
  • Experience leading teams of engineers
  • Experience coaching/teaching DevOps culture

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
