This is an SRE role owns mission critical database lifecycle management projects including deep focus on Cloud architecture, OCI Fleet Automation, capacity planning,, cloud migrations , major/minor patching, OS upgrades, host migrations, and other projects. An ideal candidate will have a history of automating processes and migrating Oracle Databases to Cloud platforms including Exadata Cloud service and Autonomous Database platforms. This position will identify opportunities in OCI Fleet Level Administration, and mentor junior members of the team. An ideal candidate will be capable of managing multiple simultaneous projects and keeping them on schedule meeting program and customer requirements. As a member of the Database engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Able to effectively communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams and presentations) • Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services.You are experienced at building highly available services, possessing knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols. Experience with production operations and best practices for putting quality code in production and troubleshoot issues when they arise. You will play a role in defining and driving tasks associated with the support and operations of the Exadata in Oracle Cloud. The work is non-routine and can be very complex at times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent, relevant work experience
- At least 10+ years of experience as Oracle DBA, Site Reliability Engineer, or Oracle Database Architect.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
- Create and deliver standard methodologies recommendations, sample code, technical documents including research and prototyping (proof of concept) different aspect of Oracle DBaaS service
- Development Skills in PLSQL, Python, Perl and/or Shell Scripting
- Drives and actively participates in the resolution of complex technical issues spanning DBaaS (ExaCS/Autonomous) services and works towards ensuring highly scalable database service under strict SLAs by developing solutions to complex problems and incidents
- Managing production databases running on UNIX flavors (RHEL, OEL).
- Strong understanding of distributed computing, cloud concepts and platforms
- High availability & replication technologies (Data guard, Goldengate)
- Solve complex and difficult problems and build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
- Oracle Autonomous Database
- Very strong analytical skills to identify problems root cause
- Experience with Oracle databases including RAC, Data Guard, Oracle GI (clusterware, ASM), RMAN preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug programs & procedures for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
- Understanding of REST Architecture and JSON is a plus
- Experience with Oracle Exadata & Oracle Autonomous Database strongly preferred.
- Experience in infrastructure automation through Terraform, Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Packer or similar is a plus
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines including VCS (git, svn, etc.), Gitlab Runners, Jenkins is a plus

In partnership with your Development partners, you will have the responsibility to ensure that services are designed and delivered to be mission critical with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance.
- Operations Engineering – You will understand and be able to communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes and requirements of the services you own.
- Automation – You will have a clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles, and will be eager to automate, wherever and whenever the possibility arises, while simultaneously eliminating technical debt. Automation must be part of your DNA.
Prevention - Once you have expertly resolved an issue, you will immediately work on how to more quickly resolve the problem next time, with the goal to eventually prevent the problem happening ever again
- Broad Interests - SREs are a rare mix of sysadmins and development Engineers, and as such have the ability to understand and explain the affect of product architecture decisions on the ability to run as distributed systems. They are driven by professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of the their services and the technologies they depend upon.
- Represent SRE - Proactive, self-motivated, customer-focused, organized, and a good communicator. SREs can be expected to represent our team capabilities to other stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with multiple teams, actively participating in the execution of roadmap projects.
