The Role:
Our Engineering team is growing! We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced Platform Engineer with expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join our engineering team. You will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure and platform services that enable our development teams to deploy, manage, and scale applications efficiently. Your contributions will ensure high availability, security, and performance of our platform.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise in automation engineering, coding, and architecture issues.
Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure on GCP.
Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes.
Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform.
Work closely with developers, data engineers and product teams to understand platform requirements.
Create self-service tools and frameworks to enhance developer productivity.
Champion DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices across the organisation.
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools like Stackdriver, Prometheus, or Grafana.
Optimise system performance and ensure high availability through effective scaling strategies.
Conduct root cause analysis for incidents and implement preventative measures.
Embed security considerations early in the development process (Shift Left Approach).
Ensure platform security through IAM policies, VPC design, and proper data encryption practices.
Monitor and address vulnerabilities and security risks within the platform.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.
About you:
Proficiency in scripting and programming languages like Python, Go, or Bash.
Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or similar role.
Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Functions, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage.
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi).
Deep understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or ArgoCD.
Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Stackdriver, Prometheus, or Grafana.
Knowledge of microservices architecture and service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Envoy).
Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments.
Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA).
