Platform Engineer

As Software Engineer for middleware and integration, you will develop and execute key technology components of the enterprise technology strategy and ensure alignment with Guardian’s emerging consumer centric digital strategy. You will aspire towards being an innovative thought leader and will harness deep industry and technical expertise to develop and execute enablement of the API and modern application platform roadmap ensuring customer focus that supports enterprise growth.

You will

  • Focus on enablement of new services for middleware and application modernization, their integration and orchestration
  • Have experience implementing in BPM, Event Driven landscape along with best practices.
  • Produce quality code and are hands on with terraform modules, Java, Spring Boot, Python and modern technologies for enablement.
  • You will work as an Individual Contributor partnering with solution architects, engineering teams to advocate the value identified in new platform
  • Foster a culture of enablement, providing domain specific knowledge and best practices across the engineering organization, including katas, training, demos.
  • Provide superior customer service and relationship management with organizational partners and customers.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of middleware solutions that connect enterprise systems and application
  • Research opportunities, perform PoC to adopt new technologies
  • Play various personas to develop the unit of work. Work with business teams to identify use cases and their implementation
  • Adhere to standards, best practices, designs, patterns including security
  • Participate in the life cycle planning of existing IT assets.
  • Identifies and leverages opportunities across BTS departments to ensure a consistent and efficient platform framework.
  • Create a documentation, ADR's and use case diagram to clarify solution scope
  • Create platform governance, engineering standards, guidelines and frameworks
  • Support the continuous improvement of deployment pipelines, automation processes, and infrastructure as code (IaC) practices.
  • Ensure compliance with security, data privacy, and performance standards in all integration projects.

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Platform or Applications development
  • Understanding of containerization & orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
  • Good understanding with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Competency with CI/CD automation tools (e.g., Bitbucket, Jenkins, AWS)
  • Competency of APIs (REST, SOAP, GraphQL, gPRC) and other integration technologies
  • Competency in Middleware – SNS/SQS/Tomcat/Event Bridge Kafka (Nice to Have)
  • Development Skills (e.g. Java, Spring Boot, Python, Bash, Event/Streaming Driven Programming)
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices (e.g., Active Directory, HBSS)

Location:

  • Two days a week at a Guardian location in New York, NY, Holmdel, NJ, Bethlehem, Pa, or Boston, MA

Salary Range

$114,080.00 - $187,415.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
