What you`ll do

 

Summary:

 

  • Provide technical expertise in IaaS and IaC, with a focus on network infrastructure development and operations so as automation
  • Automate network infrastructure and help optimize network automation processes
  • Stay up to date with the latest hyperscalers' technologies and understand their business potential
  • Utilize state-of-the art IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible to deploy, operate and maintain Network Infrastructures
  • Build, operate and maintain customer to cloud, cross-cloud and private cloud connectivity services
  • Drive technology strategy by identifying and implementing innovative solutions for customer and DC connectivity
  • Utilize OSS Monitoring and Logging solutions like ELK, Grafana and Prometheus to improve MTTR for Critical Infrastructure
  • Collaborate effectively with a global and diverse team, including network engineers, software developers, and other stakeholders
  • Participate in 24/7 operations model and maintain SAP's global network infrastructure

 

The Role:

 

As Network Architect you will work and collaborate on the new projects within the WAN SAP cloud landscape. Focus will be on the edge services which include connectivity to the Internet, Hyperscalers, but also direct secure connectivity to the customers around the world. You will need to design and contribute to the WAN services monitoring and automation, so as the new service development based on the customer needs. Since we are working in the DevOps model it will be required being available for on-call shifts to support the customers during weekends and working hours.  

 

What you bring

 

  • Master’s degree or proven equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 5+ years technical experience with cloud, data center and ISP environment so as IaaS and IaC, and some experience in network automation
  • 5 + years and deep knowledge of wide area network protocols, including BGP, MPLS, Segment Routing, and data center routing and switching (Certification in Data Center or Service Provider Network field is a plus)
  • Deep knowledge of SSL, IPSec, DMVPN solutions and understanding and experience with DDoS solution is a plus
  • Proficiency in DevOps tools (Git, GitHub, CI/CD Pipelines)
  • Experience with Linux OS environment including virtualized/containerized infrastructure
  • Knowledge in at least two programming languages (preferably Golang, Python)
  • Strong understanding of the business potential of the latest hyperscalers' technologies. Related certifications are a plus
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse team. Proficiency in German and English written and oral
  • Readiness to work early shift occasionally is a plus

WAN team consists around 30 people worldwide and we are responsible to provide external and internal connectivity to the SAP data centers. We are closely working with our SAP Cloud colleagues so as with LoBs and develop and maintain services which are required for the application we offer to the customers.
