The Lead Cloud Engineering Architect is responsible for ensuring the design and delivery of cloud computing services. This includes preparing cloud infrastructure for organizational applications, implementing a cloud computing strategy, and ensuring the security of cloud systems.

1) Lead the architectural design, preparation, and configuration efforts of an optimal cloud environment for the organization’s existing applications, services, dependencies, and more. (35%)
2) Lead all planning, coordination, deconfliction and implementation of migrations to the cloud from an on-premises environment. (25%)
3) Lead the monitoring and management of cloud-based systems to ensure optimal security, performance, and cost efficiency.  Provide recommendations and solutions for improvements and efficiency. (20%)
4) Manage 3rd party Cloud Services Provider (CSP) professional services vendors. (10%)
5) Manage technological projects as assigned. Ensure proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed. Report gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls to leadership to ensure member impact and risk is mitigated. (10%)

 

Required Skills

Cloud Performance Tuning, LAN/WAN Knowledge, Cloud Network Design, and Implementation, Problem Solving, Strategic Planning, Multi-tasking, Quality Focus, Coordination, Technical Understanding, Quick Study, Technical Zeal. The following are also required:

1)      Bachelor’s Degree is required. Candidates who present an equivalent combination of formal training and experience in required areas may also be considered.

2)      At least 5 years’ experience in cloud computing technologies, such as IaaS, PaaS, and containers (Docker or Kubernetes), and best practices.

3)      Must possess a Cloud certification or better.

4)      Working knowledge of the major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP.

5)      At least 5 years of experience with VMWare ESX 6 or better

6)      Working knowledge of Windows and widely used Linux distros including Ubuntu, and SUSE.

7)      Experience in the management and design of a mid-sized Cloud Services Solution or greater.

8)      Good understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, OSPF, BGP, and stateful firewalling.

9)      Strong project management skills in technical environments.

10)  Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.

11)  Ability to pass background check for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) or Department of Defense (DoD) to acquire “Contractor” badge is required.
