Job Overview
VPII, Platform Engineering - Storage and Data Protection will lead the platform engineering organization responsible for enterprise storage platforms, data protection, and recovery. As a senior leader in the Infrastructure Technology & Operations (I&O) organization, you will have the opportunity to define/execute storage platform strategy/vision and roadmap for on-prem and hybrid cloud. This role will define next-generation storage architecture/platforms and be accountable for the engineering of highly scalable storage infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Develop and lead infrastructure platform engineering team responsible for enterprise storage platform architecture and engineering
Lead storage platform transformation/modernization supporting always-on enterprise applications and services
Accelerate infrastructure transformation to provision/manage infrastructure through infrastructure as code (IaC) to enable self-service and reduce handoffs.
Integrate and automate deployment and provisioning of highly available infrastructure across data centers/hybrid cloud platform
Collaborate with IT stakeholders to develop, communicate, and execute a multi-year technology strategy to simplify architecture, and delivery model and drive transformational change
Design, build, and migrate core infrastructure platforms and services to Equinix data centers to improve overall availability, performance, and scalability
Provide Tier 3 engineering support ensuring effective 24x7x365 support for assigned technology including vendor escalation
Partner with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity organizations to integrate disaster recovery processes with day-to-day technology engineering and operations
Build and maintain strong partnerships with IT stakeholders including Delivery Engineering, Application Development, Architecture, Security, and Operations to ensure technology investment enables/drives business strategy
Foster and drive organizational change through technology and process optimization
Establish KPIs to measure organization performance and effectiveness
Develop and maintain security controls, comprehensive patching & vulnerability remediation
Manage ongoing vendor relationships including evaluation of products and services
Identify and eliminate risks in the environment that threaten stability, resiliency, performance, and security

Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years of experience building & leading distributed teams within an engineering organization
Minimum 10+ years of progressive leadership experience working within large, global financial institutions
Demonstrated technology and people leadership experience in architecting/deploying highly scalable storage and data protection solutions on-prem and cloud
Proven track record developing, communicating, and executing multi-year technology strategies and roadmaps
Technical Competencies:
Proven experience building enterprise storage solutions (Infinidat, EMC, NetApp)
Proven track record designing, building, and automating data management solutions across all AWS storage services (EBS, EFS, S3, Glacier, Storage Gateway, etc)
Proven expertise with enterprise backup and recovery software solutions (Actifio / Cohesity)
Proven expertise in core AWS services (S3, EFS, EC2, EBS, IAM, ECS, Lambda etc)
Experience with open telemetry including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK
Core Competencies:
Proven track record in the following areas:
Infrastructure transformation focused on infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for end-to-end infrastructure deployment automation
Leading migration of infrastructure and platforms to new data centers and AWS
Delivering hyper-converged infrastructure platforms and tiered services (physical & logical layer)
IT Service Management (ITIL and ITMS)
Ability to convey technical solutions to the entire organization and experience working with senior leaders across the firm to leverage technology to drive positive business outcomes
Agile mindset; Possess a thorough understanding of modern work practices such as DevOps, Continuous Delivery, Agile Project Delivery
Extensive experience using system management configuration tools (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, CF) to manage compute infrastructure at scale
Extensive experience working in large technology ecosystems with emphasis on integrating multiple externally facing high-scale, high volume, always-on mission-critical systems
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the regulatory, security, privacy, and risk safeguards required of a global financial institution
