What you’ll do
The DevSecOps Engineer reports to the Information Security Manager and works with Security Engineers, DevOps, Software Developers, and other IT staff members to manage security code releases.
In this role, you will be a key player in bridging development, security, and operations by ensuring the secure delivery of code and integrating security measures directly into the software development lifecycle. This position requires a strong development background with an interest or experience in DevOps practices, to help safeguard our infrastructure and products from the ground up.
Your Impact
Integrate Security into Development: Ensure security is embedded throughout the development process by collaborating with developers to remediate vulnerabilities directly in the code.
Security Automation in CI/CD Pipelines: Develop automated security checks and integrations within CI/CD pipelines, ensuring secure deployment practices without bottlenecks.
Code Review & Remediation: Conduct security-focused code reviews to identify vulnerabilities and assist developers in writing secure, efficient code.
Container Security: Secure containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and other relevant technologies, integrating security into container orchestration.
Development & Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to enhance the security of applications, systems, and platforms, creating and maintaining secure-by-design principles.
Security Patching & Automation: Implement security patches and streamline patching processes through automated deployment strategies.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and best practices to proactively apply them to development and operations processes.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date documentation around secure development practices, DevSecOps tools, and processes.
What you bring to the table
A strong background in software development, with hands-on experience in secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices across multiple languages.
Ability to implement security best practices directly into codebases, familiar with modern frameworks and tools for secure coding.
Knowledge of DevOps practices such as CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and automation tools.
Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms, ensuring security in cloud deployments and infrastructure.
Understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and related tools for secure container deployment and management.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Bonus points
Experience with Ruby, Rust, and Go programming languages.
Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, etc.).
Familiarity with compliance standards such as PCI-DSS, SOC 2, or NIST.
Experience with Threat Modeling and risk assessment frameworks.
Strong understanding of encryption, authentication, and access control mechanisms.
Location
This role is remote-first and can be located anywhere inside the continental United States. iSeatz is a New Orleans-based company with Central Time Zone business hours, but feel free to work from your home office, from the beach, or from the cottage you rented for the summer!
