Description

Seeking a Senior Software Developer to meet the support needs of the Oracle Linux, Virtualization, and Systems organization. This candidate will join the Systems Lab Operations (LabOps) team in development of DevOps style software solutions for configuring and managing the IT environment used to enable product development efforts for Oracle Linux, Virtualization, Cloud, Solaris, and Engineered Systems.

 

The applicant will utilize their software development skills along with their knowledge of system administration roles to re-architect and automate routine systems administration tasks and help develop infrastructure as code style solutions to ensure consistency and scalability of support processes and solutions.

 

A successful candidate will possess the following: 

 

Expertise as a Software Engineer with knowledge and experience in developing solutions for cloud, security, system administration, IaaS, etc.

 

Strong understanding of traditional monolithic and cloud-native application frameworks Understanding of security principals related to networking and cloud security  Ability to derive and implement solutions applicable to both on-prem and cloud resources  Experience planning and delivering cloud migration projects from traditional on-premise deployment models  Experience integrating cloud-native alerting and monitoring solutions. Ability to translate workload requirements into public cloud or hybrid cloud technical architecture, incorporating Compute, Networking and Storage requirements. Proven understanding of common web service design patterns such as REST and gRPC.  Curiosity and willingness to learn new skills, work with new tools, and discover and deliver new and innovative approaches to solving complex technical challenges.  Cloud experience and/or certification (Oracle, AWS, Azure, Google, etc.)

 

Required Skills

  • IaaS, SaaS, or NaaS Cloud configuration experience 
  • Experience migrating on-prem solutions to cloud 
  • Advanced containerization and orchestration experience (Docker and Kubernetes) 
  • CI/CD& build automation tooling  Micro-services design principles and coding experience 
  • Extensive experience using one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, Perl, C, Shell) 
  • Expertise in developing scalable IaaS software in an immutable infrastructure paradigm (ansible, terraform, puppet) 
  • Experience working with one or more operating system virtualization solutions 
  • System Administration experience (Linux/Solaris) 
  • Administration and configuration of code repository solutions such as GIT, SVN, or Perforce and related management solutions such as Jenkins

Preferred Skills

  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience 
  • Networking (Understanding DNS, Firewalls, TCP/IP….) 
  • Oracle DB, Oracle MySQL or other database technologies 
  • Kickstart and Jumpstart configuration and administration 
  • Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) projects such as helm, fluentd, Prometheus, grafana, flannel,  calico, istio 

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in CS or Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of enterprise level experience in a Software Developer role 
  • Define, design, and implement coded infrastructure solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.
  • Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.  May play a team leader role for developing System Administrators.
  • Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Eight years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
