Position Summary:
SMC3, the leading provider of data and technological solutions to the LTL portion of the transportation industry, is looking for a highly motivated DevOps Engineer to join our expanding DevOps team. In this role, you will work closely with our Agile teams to deploy, monitor and troubleshoot applications in our dev, test and production environments while continually looking for ways to automate and streamline the processes. We strive for 100% uptime and are looking for someone who has the desire and ability to help us achieve that goal.
Essential Functions:

The following duties are required to be performed under general supervision:
- Configuration and use of various tools to monitor the health of test and production systems.
- Respond quickly and accurately to alerts from the monitoring tools and requests from other internal users.
- Configure, monitor and troubleshoot nightly builds to test systems.
- Deploy application updates to production systems.
- Deploy infrastructure updates to test and production systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in both test and production systems.
- Be able to be on-call 24×7 at least one week per month.
- Respond reliably to on-call issues as needed.
- Be an integral part of a small DevOps team.
- Work well independently to help bring solutions to problems.
Qualifications/Education/Skills

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- 2-5 years of experience in DevOps role
- A thorough understanding of the following is required:
- Linux
- Kubernetes
- Monitoring
- Application deployment
- Docker image creation
- Continuous integration
- Bash and Python scripting
- Databases – both relational and NoSQL
- Load balancing
- Experience with the following is preferred:
- server/application monitoring tools
- large-scale system deployment
- Rancher/RKE2
- Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- Jenkins/Groovy
- Apache HTTP Server
- Postman
