As a DevOps Engineer at Fortem, you will be responsible for maintaining the infrastructure, tools, processes, and cyber security infrastructure necessary to support our software engineering teams and products. Additionally, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining an automated testing solution. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth deployment and operation of our applications, while also working on continuous improvement initiatives to enhance our DevOps practices. 


This role will work to effectively maintain software development systems and to increase the overall efficiency and security of software releases. 

    

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Support the engineering teams with application configuration for deployment, monitoring, and other automation for regular software deployments and releases.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to automate, simplify and improve operational tasks and software testing. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements and process automation.
  • Implement and enforce cyber security best practice and ensure compliance with industry and
    government standards.
  • Monitor and respond to outages for critical services and applications.
  • Develop and maintain documentation.
     
Requirements

Education and Required Skills/Experience: 

  • BS degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). 
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, system administration, or a related field 
  • 3+ years of experience in cyber security and certification in one of the following strongly desired
    (Security+, CEH, or GSEC) 
  • 3+ years of demonstratable hands-on Linux experience

Desired Skills/Experience: 

  • Experience or basic knowledge/understanding of the following:
  • Scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, PHP, or Node.js
  • Expertise with CI/CD pipelines and tools (GitLab, AWS, Artemis)
  • In-depth knowledge of automation tools
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, ECS, Kubernetes) o Understanding of networking, security, and infrastructure best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
