A Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and managing cloud-based infrastructure and services. The Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud environments, working with various cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud. The Cloud Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure the cloud infrastructure meets business needs, security standards, and performance goals. 

 

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES 


Financial 

  • Ensure cost-efficient and effective cloud solutions while optimizing resourceto reduce costs (e.g., through rightsizing instances, auto-scaling, or choosing the appropriate cloud services).

Customer 

  • Design and deploy cloud infrastructures tailored to meet customer needs.
  • Monitor cloud systems and services to ensure performance, availability, and reliability meet customer expectations.
  • Respond promptly to queries or technical issues related to cloud services.
  • Participate in on-call requirements to support all infrastructure cloud and on premise.

 

Business Process 

  • Design, implement, and manage cloud solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for infrastructure, data storage, and computing resources.
  • Daily administration of GKE, EKS, Kubernetes.
  • Management of automated cloud solutions using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform) through CI/CD pipeline.
  • S3 storage administration, cloud native and Ceph.

 

Learning and Development 

  • Continuously upgrade knowledge and skills on emerging cloud technologies and services.
  • Share insights, best practices, and new trends with the team to foster a culture of innovation within cloud engineering.
  • Mentor new and less skilled cloud engineers and provide guidance on cloud infrastructure management and engineering best practices.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer scienceinformation technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3 or more years experience in cloud engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their services.
  • Proficiency in cloud automation and orchestration tools.
  • Experience with storage and containerization technologies (e.g., Ceph, Kubernetes).
  • Cloud certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) is a plus.
