Azure Cloud Engineer - Data Integration & Pipeline Development

Location: Remote

We are seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments and has experience integrating internal and external data sources into scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-based data pipelines. This role plays a key part in enabling analytics, data management, and AI readiness across enterprise-level systems.


Position Overview: As an Azure Cloud Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain cloud-native data integration and transformation pipelines that power modern analytics and reporting platforms. You'll work across teams to ingest, clean, prepare, and transform structured and unstructured data from diverse sources. Your work will ensure high data quality, performance, and reliability across batch and real-time data workflows. You'll also support infrastructure modernization efforts and contribute to the development of reusable components and cloud-native solutions aligned with DevSecOps and CI/CD best practices.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reusable data pipelines in Azure using tools such as Azure Data Factory, Event Hubs, and Azure Functions
  • Develop and maintain high-performance data processing workflows using Databricks or Apache Spark
  • Integrate data from internal and external sources, transforming it into accessible, analytics-ready models
  • Perform advanced data preparation, cleaning, and optimization tasks at scale
  • Work with a variety of data formats including CSV, JSON, XML, and complex nested structures
  • Implement data management solutions and support modernization of legacy web architectures
  • Write complex SQL and programmatic transformations using Python or Java
  • Support DevOps and CI/CD practices, participating in the full SDLC and enforcing coding standards and cloud security best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, perform root cause analysis, and maintain high availability of pipeline infrastructure
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver data products that support mission and business objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure cloud native technologies
  • 2+ years of experience developing ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Event Hubs, Event Grid, and Azure Functions
  • 2+ years developing data pipelines using Databricks or Apache Spark
  • 1+ year working with Azure database technologies such as Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, Redis, or Synapse
  • 1+ year working with orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Oozie • Strong programming foundation in Python or Java
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience transforming complex data sets
  • Experience working with both streaming and batch data solutions
  • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, cloud security, and modern SDLC processes
  • Experience working within Agile software development teams

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with migrations of legacy systems and data pipelines into Azure cloud environments
  • Familiarity with Git-based development workflows and tools such as GitHub or GitLab
  • Experience supporting data architecture modernization and the development of cloud-native data solutions
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain
  • IAT Level II Security Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
