Position Description

As Serco continues to grow, we have an immediate need for an Azure Cloud Engineer Lead. As an Azure Cloud Engineer with Serco, you will use your Microsoft Azure cloud and DevOps expertise to help Serco North America and our public sector customers solve challenging problems through innovative technology solutions. The Azure Cloud Engineer lead will provide architecture level support, engineering, and automation development activities to integrate, migrate, and maintain existing azure cloud infrastructure. The Azure Cloud Engineer lead will also provide mentorship and training of existing staff.

 

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable with Microsoft cloud technologies, both from the IT infrastructure and IT applications perspective. The candidate must be a self-starter, quick learner of new technology (virtual infrastructure, containers, databases etc.), and be highly motivated.

 

In this role you will:

  • Work in tandem with our solutions architects and systems engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company and its customers.
  • Develop and implement capabilities to reduce time to delivery of platforms through orchestration and automation.
  • Manage Serco’s cloud environments in accordance with company enterprise architecture and security guidelines.
  • Deploy and debug cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Automate repetitive, manually time-consuming O&M tasks.
  • Ensure monthly invoicing of platforms is accurately distributed.
  • Educate and mentor system engineering team on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.
  • Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they cascade into problems.
  • Using your extensive knowledge of APIs to design RESTful services, and integrate them with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed.
  • Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the company excel.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • US Citizenship Required
  • Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in systems engineering
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Deep understanding of MS Azure software development patterns and best practices
  • Experience Implementing a DevOps strategy in an MS Azure environment
  • Experience implementing automation in an MS Azure environment
  • Strong awareness of networking and Internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and distributed networks
  • Desire to mentor and train internal technical teams
  • Experience with Cloud Architecture and design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer facing interaction skills

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $119,357.43 to $206,847.69; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
