The Opportunity:

Eon is looking for a Junior Cloud Engineer, based in Denver, to assist in the development, deployment, and maintenance of our cloud-native infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The ideal candidate will be responsible for partnering with other Engineers to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our AWS infrastructure.


This role will function as the Level 1 monitoring of our Eon EPM with appropriate escalation to senior engineers as needed. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions and support our cloud environment.



In this role you will:

  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues as they arise
  • Maintain and support both Linux and Windows environments in the cloud
  • Automate tasks using scripting languages such as Python and Bash
  • Document processes and procedures for reference and training purposes
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of AWS cloud infrastructure solutions
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to deploy and configure cloud services according to best practices
  • Stay updated on AWS technologies and best practices
  • Optimize cloud resources for cost-efficiency by implementing best practices and monitoring resource utilization
  • Maintain AWS resources using services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, Opensearch, and Terraform
  • Automate deployment and configuration management processes using AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, OctopusDeploy, and other DevOps tools
  • Ensure the security of AWS resources by implementing IAM roles, security groups, and VPC configurations in compliance with industry standards
  • Monitor and troubleshoot AWS infrastructure, addressing performance, availability, and security issues
  • Assist in disaster recovery planning and conduct routine backup and data retention tasks

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure
  • Experience troubleshooting software applications
  • Scripting experience (Python and/or Bash)
  • Basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems

Nice-to-have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • AWS Associate level certifications
  • Terraform experience
  • Docker and containerization experience
  • Strong AWS knowledge around EC2, ECS, RDS, VPC, IAM, S3
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD pipelines)
