As a cloud engineer on the team, you will work as part of a team to build and deploy highly scalable, reliable, and secure cloud environments for Astrata’s customer-facing products as well as for internal tools vital to our success. In addition, you will work with the Cloud Infrastructure Support team to ensure that our clinical data platform in the cloud is running smoothly.


What you’ll do

  • Own the maintenance and upkeep of Astrata’s platform in the cloud, including patches and upgrades, monitoring key indicators of system performance and rightsizing scaling as needed to balance performance and cost.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts
  • Document cloud architectures, policies, and procedures.
  • Evaluate cloud tools for cost efficiency and performance.
  • Act as a liaison between Cloud Infrastructure Support and other engineering teams.
  • Educate engineering teams on cloud best practices and optimal cloud implementations
  • Design and implement cloud architecture for new products.
  • Research and implement DevOps best practices for automation, availability, and security.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for issue resolution.

What we’re looking for

  • A candidate must have 2+ years' Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud services experience (including compute, storage, networking, security, and IAM) with a proven track record of participating in a small to medium sized solutions projects of moderate complexity.
  • Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of object oriented and scripting languages such as Ruby, Bash, PHP, Python and IaC tools such as Terraform, Pulumi or Cloud Formation scripts .
  • Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, and Docker.
  • Working knowledge of common software engineering tools such as GIT, JIRA, Artifactory, Confluence or similar.
  • Experience within professional IT (Sys admin/dev ops experience with Linux and Windows)

Exceptional Candidates will have

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc…)
  • Prior experience in a startup environment
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves and get into the weeds as required
  • Working knowledge in Information Security, Data Privacy and regulatory compliance as it pertains to clinical data.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare regulations such as HITRUST in the context of cloud services.
  • Active AWS certificate.
