The role
We’re looking for a Cloud Engineer to take ownership of our AWS landing zones and shared platform services by designing secure, scalable, multi-account environments that balance autonomy for engineering teams with strong governance and compliance.
You’ll deliver robust, automated foundations using infrastructure as code, enabling consistent and repeatable cloud adoption across the organisation.
This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with application engineers, architecture, security and other platform teams to support the design and delivery of cloud-based workloads. You’ll provide architectural guidance, define best practices and ensure reliability, security and operational excellence are embedded throughout the stack.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Designing and operating secure, scalable multi-account AWS environments and platform foundations
- Defining and implementing organisation-level security controls, tooling and observability capabilities
- Collaborating with architecture, security and engineering teams to continuously improve compliance, reliability, cost efficiency and user experience
- Acting as a subject matter expert for application teams, providing guidance and hands-on support with cloud-native application design, deployment and effective use of the platform
- Building and maintaining infrastructure-as-code patterns and automation to support consistent cloud adoption
- Tracking AWS service developments and evolving platform capabilities and best practices
- Participating in the out-of-hours rota to support critical systems
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Strong experience designing and operating AWS-based platforms and distributed systems
- Hands-on experience running production, multi-account AWS environments
- A security-first mindset, with experience building platforms in regulated or security-sensitive environments
- Solid understanding of AWS identity, networking and data perimeter controls
- Experience defining guardrails and platform standards that enable teams to move quickly and safely
- Deep, hands-on experience with AWS security services used at scale, including Organizations, CloudTrail, Security Hub, Config, GuardDuty and Inspector
- Proficiency in Terraform and Python for infrastructure automation
- Familiarity integrating cloud infrastructure into CI/CD pipelines
- Comfortable working across engineering, architecture and security teams
- The ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Why should you apply?
- Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus
- Lunch provided (via Just Eat for Business) and dedicated barista bar
- 30 days’ annual leave
- 9% company pension contributions
- Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance
- Comprehensive healthcare and life assurance
- Cycle-to-work scheme
- Monthly company events
