As a Staff Platform Engineer at Fanatics, you will play a key role in shaping and evolving our platform infrastructure. You’ll be part of the Platform Engineering team within the Fan Ecosystem organization, working to build reliable, scalable, and developer-friendly systems that power our technology platform. This role reports to the Platform Engineering Manager and involves designing foundational systems, improving developer experience, and ensuring operational excellence at scale.
This is a highly impactful role where you’ll work across cloud infrastructure, reliability engineering, and developer tooling, helping to define the future of our platform while maintaining high-quality experiences for our end users.
What You'll Do:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable platform systems that support Fanatics’ technology ecosystem.
- Build and evolve developer-focused tooling, automation, and CI/CD workflows to enhance productivity and streamline software delivery.
- Improve system observability, logging, and alerting to reduce incident response times and increase platform resilience.
- Develop infrastructure as code solutions (Terraform) to ensure repeatable, consistent, and secure deployments.
- Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines, improving software delivery automation and efficiency.
- Partner with engineering teams to improve reliability, scalability, and performance of services running in cloud-native environments.
- Contribute to incident response and resolution, helping to drive improvements in availability and system stability.
- Advocate for best practices in software delivery, infrastructure management, and operational excellence.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture within the team.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, bringing innovative solutions to the team.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong software engineering background, with experience in backend development and/or distributed systems.
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS a plus) and cloud-native architectures.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and automation.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and developer productivity tooling. Familiarity with GitHub Actions is a plus.
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of observability (logging, metrics, tracing) and experience improving system visibility and reliability.
- Experience with incident management and operational best practices for large-scale systems.
- Proficiency in Go or Java preferred, with familiarity in Python or Kotlin as a plus.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams, communicate complex topics clearly, and influence engineering best practices.

The salary range for this position is $164,000 to $205,200, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
