About This Role
We are seeking a skilled Data Platform Engineer to join our team responsible for designing, building, supporting, and administering our enterprise data platform. This role will leverage software engineering expertise to create a scalable, automated infrastructure that serves data consumers, including data analysts, data scientists, applications, and analytics engineers.
What You’ll Do
- Design and Build Data Platform Infrastructure: Architect, implement, and optimize a high-performance, scalable, reliable data platform to support analytical and operational needs.
- Evaluate and Implement Open-Source Solutions: Research, test, deploy and optimize open-source tools to ensure seamless integration, scalability, and reliability.
- Automation and Centralized Services: Develop automated services including data ingestion pipelines, monitoring systems, and observability tools.
- System Monitoring and Observability: Implement observability solutions to monitor platform health, performance, and usage, ensuring proactive issue resolution.
- Platform Support and Administration: Troubleshoot, optimize, and manage capacity to maintain seamless platform operations.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Partner with data consumers and cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with organizational needs.
- Security and Governance: Implement best practices for data security, access control, and compliance within the platform and open-source tools.
- Document and Share Knowledge: Maintain detailed documentation of platform architecture, tool deployments, and operational processes for team efficiency.
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering or data platform engineering, designing and optimizing scalable data systems.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, or an Object-Oriented language for data engineering and automation.
- Hands-on experience with modern data solutions (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow) and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks).
- Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT workflows, data modeling, and data pipeline orchestration in production environments.
- Proven ability to evaluate, integrate, and optimize modern and progressive data tooling as part of a scalable data platform.
- Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to optimizing system performance and reliability.
