The Opportunity

Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Senior Cloud Engineer. In this role, you will work independently, supporting Valvoline’s network and server infrastructure area, focusing on Public Cloud offerings. You will ensure all servers, networking, and services are maintained according to Valvoline’s requirements, focusing on availability and security. You will also be responsible for performing audit and compliance activities on time, as well as mentoring and developing junior-level resources.

 

How You'll Make a Difference

  • Ensure all requests to modify Valvoline’s infrastructure environment adhere to ITIL Change Management processes. Review Change Requests to ensure they contain the appropriate documentation for executing change. Attend weekly change meetings and provide assistance and guidance to resources as questions arise regarding the Change Management process.
  • Coordinate and oversee quarterly Disaster Recovery testing to ensure Valvoline computer systems and data can be recovered in the event of a disaster in the primary data center. Set the scope for each DR exercise. Document DR test results and present them to management.
  • Provide technical guidance, design, and implementation of various AWS services, including network and server environments.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews of audit and compliance controls as they relate to area of responsibility. Remediate issues discovered during the review process.
  • Work with other engineers to maintain on-premises and cloud-based servers and network services, including, but not limited to, Palo Alto and Fortinet equipment and services and AWS instances and services, writing scripts, and troubleshooting issues. Work with MSPs and vendors to ensure issues are completed in a timely manner. Partner with MSPs and Vendors to review strategies to enhance performance and reduce costs.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or relevant field, or relevant experience
  • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in a large global corporation preferred
  • AWS certifications
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Scripting experience
  • Experience with building and deploying AWS services
  • Experience with AWS networking services
  • Proficiency in various Windows and Linux Server operating systems
  • Experience with Fortinet and Palo Alto network equipment is a plus
  • Knowledge of SQL and Oracle is a plus
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
