Description

The OCI Cloud Engineering team is at the forefront of enabling next-generation architectures - from AI and data analytics to cloud native Kubernetes, event-driven applications, and resilient multi-cloud environments.

You’ll be part of the Commercial team, which embodies a true startup culture: we move quickly, collaborate closely with customers, and solve complex technical challenges for small and medium businesses.

Here, you’ll have the opportunity to influence product direction, work with top engineers, and build cloud solutions that power the growth of dynamic companies worldwide. If you’re passionate about modern cloud technologies and eager to make a real impact, the OCI Cloud Engineering Commercial team offers the energy of a startup - backed by the global reach of Oracle.

As a Senior Cloud Engineer (Cloud Native) in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), you will play a pivotal role designing, implementing, and delivering innovative cloud solutions for some of Oracle’s largest and most strategic customers. You will leverage your deep technical expertise to architect, build, and support modern cloud-native environments utilizing Kubernetes, container orchestration, microservices, event-driven architectures, and streaming technologies. Your hands-on experience will ensure customers have secure, scalable, and resilient deployments on OCI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect, implement, and support cloud-native solutions using OCI and leading open-source tools (Kubernetes, Docker, Containers, etc.).
  • Design and build event-driven and distributed systems leveraging OCI Services (e.g., Oracle Streaming, Functions, API Gateway).
  • Automate cloud infrastructure deployment and lifecycle management using Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Helm).
  • Work closely with customers in pre-sales, onboarding, and in-production phases to troubleshoot, optimize, and ensure effective adoption of OCI’s cloud-native capabilities.
  • Serve as a technical advisor and advocate for best practices related to security, scalability, and high-availability in cloud-native architectures.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to provide real-world feedback, influence roadmap, and contribute technical collateral such as whitepapers, reference architectures, and solution briefs.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative, learning-oriented environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering or cloud architecture roles, with a focus on cloud-native technologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Kubernetes (AKS, EKS, GKE, or ideally OCI OKE), Docker, and cloud-native ecosystem tools (e.g., Istio, Envoy, Helm, Prometheus, Fluentd).
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven/messaging-based patterns (Kafka, streaming, serverless).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (Python, Bash/Shell, Go, or similar).
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD, automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
  • Solid grasp of core networking, container security, and IAM concepts in a public cloud environment (OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with cloud monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
  • Strong customer-facing skills in technical advisory, pre-sales, or consulting capacities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; relevant certifications are a plus.

Nice to Have:

  • Broad understanding of emerging trends and best practices in cloud native architecture.
  • Exposure to enterprise compliance, security, and governance frameworks.
  • Awareness of industry-specific requirements and use cases for cloud native solutions.
  • Engagement with the cloud native community through publications, presentations, or professional networks.

Personal Traits:

  • Strong communicator and collaborator, able to work cross-functionally and present to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for technology and innovation.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment
