Responsibilities

 

Peraton is seeking a Cloud Engineer. This qualified individual will be a part of the FRBNY Cloud Migration team. Peraton serves as a valued partner to essential government agencies across the intelligence, space, cyber, defense, civilian, health, and state and local markets. Every day, our employees do the can’t be done, solving the most daunting challenges facing our customers. This is a remote position.

 

What you will do:

  • Initial Documentation and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Analyze existing documentation related to the current infrastructure setup
    • Conduct meetings with stakeholders to discuss the current state.
  • Development Environment Setup:
    • Define the requirements for the development environment and select appropriate AWS services and tools.
    • Use FRBNY approved IaC tools to create scripts for provisioning resources in AWS.
    • Execute IaC scripts to provision the development environment, ensuring all required resources are created and configured.
    • Validate the setup through basic functionality tests.
  • Test Environment Setup:
    • Define the requirements for the test environment.
    • Use IaC scripts to provision and configure the test environment according to the defined requirements.
    • Validate the test environment setup and conduct initial tests to ensure functionality.
  • UAT Environment Setup:
    • Define the requirements for the UAT environment and ensure it supports user acceptance testing processes.
    • Use IaC scripts to set up and configure the UAT environment.
    • Validate the UAT environment setup and conduct user acceptance tests to ensure it meets the requirements.
  • Staging Environment Setup:
    • Define the requirements for the staging environment and ensure it replicates the production environment closely.
    • Use IaC scripts to set up and configure necessary resources and services for the staging environment.
    • Validate the staging environment setup and conduct thorough testing to ensure readiness for production deployment.
  • Production Environment Setup:
    • Define the requirements for the production environment, ensuring it meets performance, security, and compliance standards.
    • Use IaC scripts to provision and configure resources and services in the production environment.
    • Implement configuration management to maintain consistency and automate deployment processes for production resources.
  • Failover Environment Setup:
    • Understand failover strategy, identify availability, RTO, and RPO requirements
    • Define the requirements for the failover environment, ensuring it meets performance, security, and compliance standards.
    • Use IaC scripts to provision and configure resources and services in the failover environment.
  • Final Validation and Monitoring:
    • Conduct final validation of the production environment, ensuring all resources are correctly configured and functional.
    • Conduct a comprehensive security review to ensure all security measures are in place and effective.
    • Conduct a final review with stakeholders and obtain approvals.
    • Conduct non-functional infrastructure performance, observability, resiliency and failover testing.
  • Performs operations and maintenance of secure managed cloud platform solutions.
  • Implements and maintains automation to enhance operation, alerting, and auto remediation of events.
  • Develops, maintains, and deploys infrastructure as code using CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum 8 years of experience with managing AWS Cloud environments. Additional 4 years of experience maybe accepted in lieu of the degree
  • Experience with provisioning computer networking and storage, and setting up servers that the platform is on, using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Cloud formation.
  • Knowledge of networking, security groups
  • Knowledge of policy management for Cloud resources across multiple operating systems
  • Experience with Linux and Windows
  • Minimum AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance (Public Trust).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Federal or Government contracting and consulting experience is a plus.
  • Experience with setting up CI/CD pipelines
  • Active Public trust is a plus

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
