Description

Join our innovative automation team as a Principal Software Developer, focused on designing, developing, and maintaining software-driven automation solutions for Linux, Windows, and cloud-native environments in federally regulated, secure settings. You will use technologies such as Python, Ansible, PowerShell, and Golang to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient automation and orchestration capabilities across the stack. Work with leading automation platforms, including OLAM (Oracle’s Ansible AWX), Chef/ORC, and tools such as Shepherd/Terraform, Jenkins, and OCI DevOps services, as well as modern container systems like Kubernetes and Docker. The ideal candidate is an experienced developer with a passion for creating robust, maintainable code, integrating systems, and building reusable automation software components. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, compliant, and high-quality automation software, enhancing overall platform capabilities and developer productivity.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain automation software solutions and integration components for Linux, Windows, and OCI environments using Python, Ansible, PowerShell, and Golang.
  • Build and extend scalable automation platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and developer tooling with a focus on security and compliance.
  • Integrate and enhance configuration management and orchestration processes for better software delivery.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in automation software and platform integrations.
  • Collaborate with security, operations, and compliance teams to ensure solutions align with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation, including software design and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct code reviews and collaborate with teammates to uphold software best practices.
  • Continuously research and evaluate new development frameworks, automation tools, and best practices to drive innovation and reliability.

Technical Skill Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in software development, automation engineering, or DevOps roles.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python, Go, or PowerShell for building automation software.
  • Solid background in Linux software development and scripting.
  • Experience with containerization concepts and tools: Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools and cloud environments (Terraform, AWS, OCI, Azure).
  • Understanding of monitoring, logging, and software observability (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).
  • Able to troubleshoot and support applications running in Linux and container environments.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and collaborative team environments.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
