About the role
This Principal Data Platform Engineer role leads the hands-on build of a new AI and ML platform. Reporting to a Product Owner and working in a small cross-functional team, it drives platform engineering, architecture, delivery, and user enablement across the enterprise.

Duties / Key responsibilities

• Lead the build and operationalisation of the AI Workbench platform
• Develop CI/CD, IaC, architecture artefacts, and scalable platform components
• Provide technical leadership across cloud-native AI/ML services
• Support user onboarding, platform adoption, optimisation, and performance
• Mentor engineers and collaborate across architecture, security, and product teams

Skills and experience

• 10+ years delivering large-scale data and AI/ML platforms
• Expertise across AWS (SageMaker, Bedrock, S3, IAM) and cloud-native engineering
• Strong skills in Terraform/CloudFormation and CI/CD
• Experience establishing platform engineering standards in greenfield environments
• Ability to translate architecture into actionable technical design
• Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with LLMs, GenAI tooling, and prompt engineering (desirable)
• AWS or DevOps/ML Ops certifications (desirable)
