We seek a skilled and ambitious Platform Engineer Lead to head our Platform Engineering team. The team is at the heart of our organization, maintaining and enhancing our Azure-based platform, which serves as the backbone for all product teams. Thea ideal candidate will deeply understand infrastructure as code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native operations, focusing on enabling product teams to develop, test, deploy, and operate their services efficiently. In this role, you will drive the strategic direction of our platform infrastructure while mentoring and guiding a talented team to ensure operational excellence.
What you'll do as a Platform Engineer Lead

Lead the Team: Oversee and mentor a team of platform engineers, fostering collaboration, growth, and technical excellence.

Platform Strategy and Improvement: Maintain and improve our Azure runtime, ensuring high availability, scalability, observability and security across all environments.

Infrastructure as Code: Spearhead the development and improvement of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, establishing best practices across the team.

CI/CD Leadership: Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions to support automated testing, integration, and deployment for product teams.

Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with product teams to understand their needs, enabling efficient and effective deployment and operations of their services.

Security and Compliance: Collaborate with the security team to ensure platform infrastructure aligns with best practices and compliance requirements.

Mentorship and Development: Guide your team and stakeholders, sharing knowledge, promoting a collaborative culture, and developing scalable solutions.

Drive innovation: Actively explore and implement new tools, techniques, and patterns to ensure the platform remains cutting-edge and efficient.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience as a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Software Engineer, including 2+ years in a leadership or mentorship role.
- Strong expertise in managing infrastructure through code, especially with Terraform.
- Proficiency in a programming or scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Java, Kotlin, Rust, Golang, and similar.
- Extensive experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Hands-on knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or similar.
- Deep understanding of cloud-native operations, including CI/CD pipelines, Azure-based platforms, and microservices architectures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder management experience to align platform initiatives with organizational goals.
Nice to have or can be learned
- Experience with different network concepts such as load balancing, DNS, HTTP, TLS, etc.
- Database technologies such as SQL databases or other database types.

As the Platform Engineer Lead, you will work alongside a skilled team of engineers specializing in infrastructure development, site reliability engineering (SRE), and problem-solving. You'll collaborate with team members across locations, leveraging tools like Teams for regular standups and brainstorming sessions. Everyone is helping where it is needed with solutions and knowledge. You'll also engage with colleagues from our office in India, who frequently visit the Norwegian offices, ensuring a seamless exchange of ideas and solutions.
