Position Summary

The Platforms Senior Engineer develops, implements, and promotes infrastructure best practices. Platform Engineers provide an interface to Life Time Technology Development and Life Time business divisions for services.  The ideal Platforms Senior Engineer will focus on leading engineers when designing infrastructure.  They are steeped in technology expertise, but also lead with an assembled team to execute complex projects with minimal oversight.  The successful candidate will be a goal-oriented self-starter, effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across technical and leadership levels, and demonstrated ability to provide “best in class” solutions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads problem solving and consultancy on technical projects
  • Leads and develops engineers, growing their knowledge and skillset
  • Collaborates with technical leads to integrate an end-to-end design that's well documented
  • Reports on the status of projects periodically, resolving roadblocks independently when feasible
  • Cross-trains engineering staff on Cloud and DevOps concepts and procedures
  • Leads or consults on the most complex incident escalations and performs complex troubleshooting
  • Ensures solutions are maintained for high availability, scalability, security, and supportability
  • Mentors junior team members
  • Leads automation and configuration management development and code review
  • Designs  Active Directory environment and full migration strategy from Active Directory ​

Position Requirements

  • 8 or more years of experience in designing, implementing and maintaining infrastructure
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Experience implementing cloud architecture and computing including AWS, Microsoft Azure (PaaS and IaaS) and other cloud based computing environments
  • Advanced understanding of Linux and Windows Server
  • Expert knowledge in Active Directory and DNS Solutions
  • Expert knowledge in MS Exchange, Lync and Skype for Business
  • Expert knowledge in Cloud Technologies such as Office 365, MS Azure & AWS 
  • Knowledgeable in VMware, and Hyper-V
  • Architects for failure and considers disaster recovery for new and existing systems
  • Experience implementing Continuous Delivery / Continuous Integration systems

  • Experience with Atlassian tools
  • Advanced knowledge of at least one configuration management system (Chef, Ansible, Puppet or CFEngine)
  • Experience managing a CDN
  • Proven experience with application delivery networking (ADN)
  • ELK
  • ITIL
  • SOX, PCI, HIPAA
  • Splunk
  • Containers
  • Ansible
