Role Overview:
As a Platform Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing and optimising our cloud-based infrastructure. Reporting to the Energy Solutions Lead, your primary focus will be on enhancing our Azure infrastructure, databases, and data pipelines. You will work closely with the Data Analytics Manager and Data Analysts to identify and implement improvements in data integration, performance, and security.
Your daily responsibilities will include designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration of new data sources, and optimising existing workflows. You will be responsible for managing Azure servers and databases, implementing security best practices, and troubleshooting any issues that arise. Additionally, you will automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration tasks to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
Collaboration is key in this role. You will work with cross-functional teams to support business needs, including enhancing data visualisation capabilities in Power BI and Databricks. Your strategic oversight will be crucial in managing significant updates and ensuring minimal disruption to data pipelines. You will also monitor Superloop networking developments and adjust infrastructure configurations as needed to maintain optimal performance and data integrity.
This role requires a forward-thinking approach, as you will be instrumental in driving continuous improvements and innovations in our cloud infrastructure. By leveraging your expertise in cloud technologies and data analytics, you will help us achieve sustained operational excellence and deliver valuable insights to our stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate is a technically skilled individual with a minimum of 7 years in cloud infrastructure management and 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure. You have a strong background in managing Azure IaaS, ARM templates, and Powershell scripting. Your expertise in networking, security, and Identity and Access Management (IAM) is essential for this role. Additionally, experience with data platforms like Databricks and proficiency in SQL are highly desirable.
You possess excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges. Your ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams is crucial for driving successful outcomes. You are capable of working independently, taking initiative, and making informed decisions.
