Department Overview
This role is for the Head of Core Infrastructure Architect in Nomura’s Group Infrastructure Services (GIS) function. This role is responsible for leading infrastructure strategy definition and identifying innovations that will form part of Nomura’s future state application platforms. The candidate must possess senior, industry-proven design and architecture experience with a focus on security across the infrastructure landscape and demonstrate a high-level of global management aptitude.
Role Description
Head of Core Infrastructure Architecture & Innovation for Group Infrastructure Services (GIS) reporting to the Group Head of Core Infrastructure
Develop the vision of Nomura’s next-generation infrastructure for Nomura.
Manage the relationship with Nomura IT Management team and the different business divisions, providing guidance/steer on the solutions available today to meet existing problems as well as working with the business leadership to find future-focused, secure & scalable solution for new requirements or problem areas.
The scope of development and delivery will primarily be for Wholesale however all roles in GIS are group level roles and work should consider Retail and other business lines.
Role will partner and directly collaborate with Core Infrastructure team leadership (Core Tools/Web/Database/Middleware/Private & Public Cloud, Network, Data Centre etc.)
Role will partner with various application support communities and functions across the firm.

Professional Skills & Experience Required
Proven track record in IT and Platform architecture disciplines across multiple verticals with a preference towards mid/large scale Financial Service Companies
Proven ability in developing future state system design/architecture and appropriate business rationale supporting the value proposition.
Technical Knowledge Required
Broad background and knowledge base encompassing the vast landscape of modern Platform and Public Cloud services
Deep understanding of modern development languages (Java, JavaScript Python & Go)
Understanding of modern product development practices
Extensive use of Infrastructure-as-Code (Iac) and Configuration Management Solutions as part of an overall GitOps delivery ecosystem (Ansible, Hashicorp Terraform, CloudFormation)
Experience with designing, engineering and operationalizing various technologies as part of a comprehensive CI/CD toolchain (Gitlab)
Technical expertise and strong, practical understanding of Container and Kubernetes technologies including on-premise, CNCF distributions (Rancher, EKS, Hashi Nomad) as well as Cloud specific distributions (AWS EKS, GCP GKE)
Strong knowledge of Public Cloud services and solutions across the landscape of major CSPs with a particular focus on AWS.
Experience with telemetry, observability, and monitoring ecosystems in support of Platform and associated application ecosystems (Prometheus, DataDog, Elastic, OpenTelemetry, Grafana)
Strong knowledge of networking technologies such as network segmentation, firewall, load balancer
Strong knowledge & experience of security best practices enabling “Security by Design” as a key architectural principle focused on aspects such as Zero Trust model, Encryption, MFA,
Good understanding of storage platform covering Block, File , Object stores etc.
Moderate knowledge of interfacing to security tooling such as Identity technologies.
