POSITION SUMMARY

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking a motivated Junior Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting mission-critical infrastructure. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer with a DevOps mindset, foundational programming skills, and a willingness to learn and grow in a complex technical environment. You will work closely with senior engineers to support, maintain, and enhance our platform, which is based on OpenShift Platform Plus.


RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):

  • Assist in the administration and automation of Kubernetes-based platforms, with a strong preference for OpenShift experience.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation using Ansible, Git, and Python.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot system, application, and network issues across the platform.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code to support scalable, repeatable deployments.
  • Contribute to platform builds and datacenter architecture, with an understanding of key components like out-of-band management, management interfaces, and patch cycles.
  • Investigate and interpret OVN-Kubernetes networking topologies to support networking diagnostics and optimization.
  • Work across multiple technologies and be proactive in self-directed learning to support new components or services as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile, mission-driven environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) TS/SCI with CI Polygraph security clearance.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or derivatives; OpenShift experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in one or more automation languages (e.g., Ansible, Python).
  • Experience with RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (routing, subnets, DNS, etc.)
  • Experience datacenter hardware and architecture fundamentals.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, especially with self-guided research and troubleshooting.
