In this position, you will be collaborating with a small cross-functional team of technologists for Department of Veterans Affairs. This role is remote and anticipates < 10% travel.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and maintain automated end-to-end testing frameworks for BTSSS.
- Develop automated tests for workflows across Microsoft Dynamics, Travel Claims Portal, Travel Claims Management Portal, and external integrated systems.
- Build and maintain test automation for APIs, including Travel Pay API and Claim Ingest API.
- Create automation strategies to support no-downtime deployments and continuous delivery.
- Work closely with engineers to resolve defects and improve stability and reliability in production.
- Validate system behavior across complex VA integrations (CARMA, MPI, VHA Enrollment System, iFAMS, FSC, Oracle Cerner, etc.).Ensure testing environments account for non-1:1 production parity, designing mocks, stubs, and synthetic data where needed.
- Support Section 508 compliance testing and accessibility validations.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (two-week iterations) and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
What You'll Bring
- 3–5+ years of professional experience in test automation.
- Strong expertise in at least one major automation framework:Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, Robot Framework, RSpec/Capybara (if Ruby stack), or equivalent.
- Experience building API test automation, including RESTful API validation.
- Understanding of data mocking, service virtualization, synthetic test data, and mitigation strategies for non-production data gaps.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365–based systems OR ability to quickly learn Dynamics workflows.
- Experience testing systems with complex integrations and multi-system workflows.
- Strong skills in automated regression testing, load testing, and integration testing.
- Experience with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.).Ability to support 24/7 on-call rotations for production issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with government systems or highly regulated environments.
- Exposure to VA systems (CARMA, MPI, FSC, iFAMS, Oracle Cerner).
- Familiarity with Section 508/WCAG accessibility testing tools (axe, WAVE, pa11y).
- Experience with monitoring, error tracking, and automated failure triage.

$75,802 - $96,300 a yearCompensation for this role is $75,802 to $96,300 Annual Salary + Benefits + Growth Potential
Placement within this range will be based on the competency level of the candidate. An offer will be made at one of the following tiers:
Tier 1: $75,802— Meets minimum qualification/experience requirements. Beyond onboarding, will need additional guidance and training to perform key responsibilities of the role.
Tier 2: $86,051— Experienced and fully-competent. Beyond onboarding, can independently perform key responsibilities of the role.
Tier 3: $96,300— Highly-experienced and can perform all responsibilities of the role at a higher level than expected once onboarding is completed.To honor our company-wide equitable pay system, the posted salary range and corresponding tier salaries are non-negotiable.
