Waracle is looking for a Junior DevOps EngineerΒ to join the team on a permanent basis.


This role will offer hybrid workingΒ from any of our offices in the UK (Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh or London).




This is a hybrid role covering System Administration and DevOps, and would suit candidates with solid background in systems administration and a keen interest in expanding their skills into the world of DevOps.




The Junior EngineerΒ will be responsible for the management and optimisation of various systems, providing technical support, and exploring DevOps practices to streamline and automate our operations. This role will work closely with our clients and will involve understanding their needs, managing expectations, and delivering solutions that align with business objectives.




Some other duties of the role include:


  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients regarding system and infrastructure-related inquiries, managing expectations, and providing regular updates.

  • Act as a JIRA administrator, managing workflows, user permissions, and tool integrations, including Atlassian Service Desk.

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support for system-related issues, diagnosing problems, and implementing robust solutions.

  • Support cloud infrastructure management within Azure and AWS, ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and scalable.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for web and mobile applications, working to streamline deployments.

  • Assist with managing cloud-based integrations, troubleshooting systems within Azure and AWS environments.

  • Support smooth communication between the client, development teams, and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and satisfaction at all stages.

Job requirements

Requirements


  • Proven experience as a JIRA Administrator or equivalent, with expertise in Atlassian tools and 2nd/3rd line technical support.

  • Foundational experience with Azure or AWS platforms and a strong interest in expanding cloud expertise.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and associated tools, with a willingness to explore more advanced aspects.

  • Some exposure to scripting or automation using Bash, Python, or PowerShell, and a keen interest in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.

  • Ability to translate technical concepts for different audiences, ensuring clarity and effective collaboration.

  • A desire to continuously update your skills, explore new technologies, and support cloud-based systems and integrations.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
