As Systems and Cloud Engineer, the incumbent serves as a senior technical authority within the Engineering and Operations group, providing expert systems and cloud engineering expertise across the FCC's full technology environment.

In order to be deemed as qualified, candidates must have one year of specialized experience which is equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as follows:
Specialized Experience
 1. Experience leading technical projects, evaluating existing systems architecture, and making architectural decisions to ensure the security and scalability of software and cloud solutions (Zero Trust implementation (identity segmentation, policy enforcement); Infrastructure as Code automation (Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation); FedRAMP/NIST/FISMA‑compliant security implementations; and Engineering documentation and DR/COOP support).
2. Experience designing and implementing complex enterprise systems including server environments, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and identity and access management platforms (Enterprise systems engineering (Windows/Linux/virtualization/storage);Â IAM engineering (AD/Entra ID, SSO/MFA/PAM); Troubleshooting complex systems/cloud incidents; and Deploy and managing cloud-based networking, firewalls, and security).
3. Experience evaluating engineering assessments of emerging technologies, cloud services, and systems platforms (Cloud engineering & migration (Azure/AWS/GovCloud); Evaluating cloud readiness against FedRAMP; and Assessing technologies for modernization and life-cycle planning).
SME Review
Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the competencies listed below. Subject Matter Experts will be conducting a scored structured resume review to determine if candidate's resumes demonstrate the required specialized experience and the IT-related competencies. To be eligible for referral to the selecting official, candidates must receive a score of at least 75.56.
