We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to establish and lead a new DevOps/Platform Engineering function. This role will define the operating model, implement initial CI/CD and infrastructure standards, and build a high‑performing engineering team. The leader in this role pair with our Quality Engineering team to drive automation, delivery quality, and compliance‑aligned engineering practices, demonstrating measurable improvements in speed, reliability, and risk reduction.

Responsibilities

Build & Lead the DevOps Function

  • Establish the DevOps/platform operating model, standards, and roadmap.
  • Hire, coach, and develop engineers; build a sustainable team structure and career framework.

Implement Foundational DevOps Capabilities

  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines, IaC templates, and developer self‑service tools.
  • Define and maintain operational runbooks, shared libraries, and best‑practice patterns.

Ensure Platform Reliability & Governance

  • Define SLOs/SLIs and lead incident response and root‑cause analysis.
  • Implement guardrails including policy‑as‑code, release controls, and compliance automation.

Drive Cross‑Functional Adoption

  • Partner with Engineering, Security, QA, and Architecture to embed quality and security into the SDLC.
  • Lead training, onboarding, and enablement programs for engineering teams adopting DevOps practices.

Measure & Report Outcomes

  • Track and report key delivery and reliability metrics (deployment frequency, lead time, MTTR, compliance readiness).
  • Use metrics to inform continuous improvement and communicate impact to stakeholders.

Core Competencies

  • Develop people: invest in coaching, mentorship, and clear career progression.
  • Communicate clearly: regular, transparent updates and the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
  • Champion quality & automation: enforce testing, CI/CD, and release readiness as non-negotiable.
  • Collaborate & influence: build trusted relationships with Product, QA, Security and Architecture.
  • Own outcomes: balance immediate delivery needs with strategic platform investments and be accountable for measurable results.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on DevOps, platform, or cloud engineering experience, including 3+ years of people management experience (managing engineers or DevOps practitioners).
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using common industry tools.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi).
  • Strong background with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or ECS/Fargate.
  • Hands‑on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Ability to create platform standards and self‑service capabilities that support governance and compliance.
  • Experience driving shift‑left practices, including automated testing and security‑as‑code.
  • Experience defining SLOs/SLIs and leading incident management.
  • Experience integrating security and compliance into automated pipelines.
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • A quality‑first mindset that prioritizes testing, CI/CD, and automation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or leading a DevOps or platform enablement team.
  • Background working in regulated industries such as insurance, finance, or healthcare.
  • Familiarity with test automation strategies and close collaboration with QA or SDET teams.
  • Experience supporting large‑scale modernization or transformation initiatives.
