DevOps Specialist

This individual will work closely with Software Engineering teams to build, maintain, support, and improve the systems and processes used to develop, test, deploy, monitor, and operate software applications and services. This position assists with the implementation and support of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, development and deployment environments, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, logging, and related Software Engineering tooling. This role is also responsible for troubleshooting application and infrastructure issues, helping to automate repetitive operational processes, and maintaining accurate technical documentation and architecture diagrams. Success in this position requires strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work collaboratively with Software Engineers, Architects, Quality Assurance, and others within the IT teams. The successful candidate will demonstrate self-motivation, humility, accountability, and a commitment to continuously improving the reliability, security, repeatability, and efficiency of IT Software Engineering operations.
Essential Duties:
- Assist with the implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines used to build, test, package, and deploy software applications and services.
- Build, maintain, and support cloud-based development, testing, staging, and production environments using established Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) patterns and Software Engineering standards.
- Support containerized, cloud-hosted, and on-premises applications and services, including troubleshooting deployments, infrastructure dependencies, networking, configuration, permissions, and related issues.
- Assist with implementing and maintaining monitoring, logging, alerting, availability, and operational health checks for applications, services, infrastructure, and deployment pipelines within IT Software Engineering.
- Work with IT Software Engineering Architects and Engineers to automate repetitive development and operational processes to improve consistency, efficiency, reliability, and security of software and application delivery and support.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and architecture diagrams for infrastructure, environments, deployment processes, CI/CD pipelines, configurations, and operational procedures.

- Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps concepts, including source control management (SCM), Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), containerization, cloud computing, monitoring/observability, and application deployment.
- Working knowledge of source control and Git-based development workflows.
- Basic understanding and experience with cloud infrastructure technology stacks including compute, networking, storage, identity and access management, DNS, load balancing, and application hosting.
- Proficiency with at least one scripting or automation language, such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python, with familiarity working with configuration formats such as YAML and JSON.
- Ability to investigate technical problems methodically, document findings, communicate blockers or risks, and escalate issues appropriately.
- Aptitude and enthusiasm for learning new technologies, sharing knowledge with others, and contributing to the continuous improvement of IT Software Engineering practices and tooling.
- Basic understanding of the security principles applicable to Software Engineering in cloud environments, including least-privilege access, just-in-time (JIT) privileged access, secrets management, environment isolation, and secure configuration practices.
Requirements:
- Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

- A high school diploma or equivalent education is required.
- Relevant technical education, certifications, training, or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
- A Charis Bible College student or graduate is preferred.
- Must pass all required checks.
Experience:
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in DevOps, Software Engineering, Cloud Operations, Systems Administration, Development Operations, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Experience with or demonstrated working knowledge of DevOps and Software Engineering tools and platforms such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, Docker, AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeBuild, AWS CloudFormation, SonarCloud, Jenkins, or comparable technologies.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or comparable platforms, with AWS experience preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud services and concepts related to application hosting, containers, storage, networking, DNS, content delivery, identity and access management, logging, monitoring, and secrets/configuration management.
- Experience supporting or troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines, software deployments, cloud infrastructure, or development environments.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) technologies such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, AWS CDK, or comparable technologies.
- Experience with or working knowledge of container technologies such as Docker and container-based application deployment and hosting.
- Familiarity with Agile/Kanban work-management platforms such as Azure DevOps or Monday.com.
- Compensation is commensurate with experience.
