As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and scaling cloud-native infrastructure and backend systems for a high-growth technology platform. You will collaborate closely with backend, frontend, and product teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and operational excellence. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies including AWS, Kubernetes, GraphQL, and microservices architectures. You will be responsible for optimizing system performance, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and contributing to infrastructure architecture decisions that directly impact the user experience. This position allows you to influence core architectural strategies while supporting AI-driven initiatives and high-availability services at scale. The work environment is collaborative, remote- or hybrid-friendly, and centered on innovation and technical excellence.
Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and optimize backend services and infrastructure with focus on scalability, performance, and operational reliability.
- Architect and maintain systems to support high-availability workloads at scale.
- Collaborate with backend engineers to accelerate development and ensure cohesive integration across services.
- Implement and optimize GraphQL APIs, ensuring efficient query handling and caching strategies.
- Monitor system performance through profiling, load testing, and capacity planning, and establish observability and alerting solutions.
- Contribute to infrastructure design and implementation using AWS services and Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and cross-functional technical planning.
- Support AI infrastructure needs and design foundational systems for product development.
Requirements- 5+ years of experience in backend development and distributed systems.
- Proven experience scaling systems to support 100k+ monthly active users.
- Expertise deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters at scale.
- Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure (ECS, Fargate, SNS+SQS, Neptune, ALB, WAF, Lambda) and IaC tools (Pulumi, Terraform, or CloudFormation).
- Strong proficiency in Typescript, Go, and/or Python.
- Experience with GraphQL implementation and optimization, including query efficiency and caching.
- Knowledge of containerization, microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred).
- Familiarity with message queue systems, load balancing, auto-scaling, and high-availability patterns.
- Experience in incident response, production troubleshooting, and implementing monitoring/logging/alerting solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with caching strategies (AWS ElastiCache, Redis).
- Background in fintech, e-commerce, social platforms, or other high-transaction environments.
- Security best practices and compliance framework knowledge.
- Track record of scaling systems from early-stage to production-ready.
