JOIN THE TEAM

We are currently seeking a talented DevOps Engineer (Monitoring and Observability) to join our highly dynamic and collaborative team at BASF's Agricultural Solutions department Digital Factory. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing innovative solutions and processes. Additionally, you will conduct research, perform analysis, and provide technical expertise to support the successful completion of engineering tasks. As part of the global IT Solutions and Data Delivery team, you will contribute to creating and continuously improving our digital solution for the division. Your role as a DevOps engineer specializing in Monitoring and Observability is crucial in delivering our monitoring platform that supports BASF AP's digital products on a global scale.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • You will design and develop IaC components that will automate monitoring integrations for our Digital Products Portfolio.

  • You will collaborate closely with Digital Product Delivery teams to implement Monitoring and Observability capabilities

  • With your valuable feedback and recommendations, you contribute to improve and define the implementation of a minimum coverage for monitoring and observability across the Digital Products Portfolio

  • You will provide feedback to the Digital Product Delivery teams and provide recommendations for corrective approaches for any issues identified through the monitoring and observability implementation

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to produce formal documentation is also essential for this role

  • Staying updated with new technologies and best practices enables you to bring innovative solutions to the table.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • University degree, e.g. Bachelor

  • Degree in Computer Science

  • More than 3+ years leading DevOps processes and implementations on large teams

  • Coding Experience

  • Experience in Monitoring and Observability tools (New Relic, Data Dog, Firebase, Dynatrace)

  • Experience in CI/CD implementation and tools (OpenShift, Gitlab, Azure DevOps)

  • Experience in IaC (Terraform, Azure ARM, AWS CloudFormation)

  • Experience in synthetic monitoring, APM, infrastructure monitoring, on-host integrations, cloud integrations

  • Experience in telemetry (MELT), data analysis, data science, proficiency in data querying

  • Experience in Cloud management and automations

  • Experience in Internal or external Stakeholder Management

  • Coaching and Consulting experience

  • Experience in at least two comparable positions

  • Communication and Collaboration skills

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving

  • Agile principles, values, and practices

  • IT infrastructure/system landscape

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to them

  • Advanced English

  • Project management software (e.g., Azure DevOps)

  • Common frameworks (such as Tosca, MaGiz, Jmeter, Test IO, Selenium, etc.)

  • Analysis techniques

  • Systematic search for errors

  • Agile methodologies


NICE TO HAVE


  • Monitoring and Observability / Cloud Certifications (New Relic, Data Dog, AWS, Azure)

  • Excellent issue isolation, troubleshooting, and debugging skills

  • Knowledge of DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps for development, release, and monitoring

  • Experience working in an agile/scrum based team

  • Experience learning independently and coaching others
