Job Description

NetImpact Strategies has an opportunity for a DevOps Engineer to join our talented Professional Services team. The DevOps Engineer will support ongoing Information Technology (IT) Operations services for our Federal Civilian client. The DevOps Engineer is a platform team developer who develops and manages the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines of a wide variety of applications. The ideal candidate will bring forward solution ideas that support collaboration with IT Operations leadership and is a "generalist" on the CI/CD pipeline and security requirements with a strong knowledge of the platform as a whole. Ultimately, a top-notch DevOps Engineer should have exceptional communication skills, be knowledgeable about the latest industry trends, and be highly innovative.

 

Typical responsibilities include

  • Works closely with development teams to create and update CI/CD pipelines for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS based systems.
  • Supports all current and newly deployed applications, services, or components as well as any virtual infrastructure, including on premise systems as well as IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS based systems running within cloud provider(s).
  • Designs, builds, tests, and deploys changes to existing software.
  • Performs root cause analysis for production errors.
  • Investigates and resolves technical issues.
  • Develops scripts to automate visualization.
  • Designs procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Recommends cost-effective, technically feasible IT operations solutions that provide long term scalability, and anticipate future growth and performance needs.
  • Enhances the company’s IT infrastructure security protocols.
  • Identifies manual processes that can be automated
  • Considers the organization’s entire IT infrastructure when making changes and improvements.
  • Maintains and improves the cloud infrastructure.
  • Works with technologies like: NET/Java/SQL, IBM WebSphere/WebPresence, Drupal, MQ-Series Messaging, Control-M automation
  • Works with monitoring tools like: Splunk, ELK Stack, What's Up Gold, and App-Dynamics, and automation platforms such as Terraform, Jenkins and Puppet
  • Submits written and verbal status reports as requested to management staff.

Qualifications

  • A or B.S. in a degree such as Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology.
  • 3 years of experience in this role or a similar role.
  • Demonstrates a leadership mindset, solid operational experience, and the ability to problem-solve.
  • Must have a problem-solving attitude and a collaborative team spirit.
  • Capable of organizing, tracking, and managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience or desire to learn and work with Cloud technologies such as AWS.
  • Experience with IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS based systems.
  • Working knowledge of databases and SQL.
  • Working knowledge of NET/Java/SQL, IBM WebSphere/WebPresence, Drupal, MQ-Series Messaging, Control-M automation
  • Working knowledge of monitoring tools like: Splunk, ELK Stack, What's Up Gold, and App-Dynamics, and automation platforms such as Terraform, Jenkins and Puppet
