Description

We're looking for a Site Reliability Developer with strong operational and troubleshooting skills to support customer production systems in the Autonomous Database - Dedicated (ADB-D) Cloud DevOps team, Oracle's flagship product with the opportunity to work on the latest Oracle database releases and features as part of the cloud first strategy.

Work with an elite team to provide Oracle Database Administration support for customer production systems in the Oracle Cloud, with the opportunity to work on the latest Oracle database releases and features as part of the cloud first strategy.   Provide DBA operational support with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness.  Deliver accurate and creative solutions to customer problems to ensure customer success.



Responsibilities

We are looking for a motivated, proactive team player with a ‘can-do’ and ‘do-it-right’ attitude. You are a self-starter who continuously seeks ways to improve processes and contribute both individually and as part of a team. Ideally, you have 2+ years of experience supporting relational databases as a DBA, with a focus on Oracle and related tools, and experience in organizations that rely on their databases 24x7 is a strong plus.

What You'll Do

  • Work closely with Product Development teams and provide feedback to improve product quality.
  • Develop administration automation and monitoring scripts as needed.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures/documentation.
  • Provide escalation support for database related issues.
  • Share knowledge and mentor junior team members as needed.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and participate team building activities.
  • Alert and diagnostic monitoring participate 24x7 on call support on a weekly rotating schedule, including weekends. 

 

What You'll Bring

Solve complex problems related to infrastructure cloud services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence. Design, write, and deploy software to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services. Design and develop designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems. Facilitate service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in enterprise database administration, with a strong sense of ownership, drive, and attention to detail.
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL), including high availability, clustering, replication, backup & recovery, patching/upgrades, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with database monitoring and management tools for mission-critical production systems.
  • Proficiency in SQL/PLSQL, Unix shell scripting, Perl, or Python; experience administering databases on Exadata is a plus.
  • Familiarity with public cloud environments, REST APIs, and DevOps/automation methodologies in always-on services.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to investigate errors and performance bottlenecks, with excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Willingness to work in a 24x7 production environment, including weekends, and to mentor or share knowledge with junior team members.
