POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, securing and managing cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) while driving automation, continuous integration, and infrastructure optimization. This position will also work closely with the DevOps and Networking teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of cloud services, focusing on scalability, performance, security, and cost-efficiency in cloud environments.
CORE FUNCTIONS
- Work with Infrastructure and DevOps to design, implement, and manage secure scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Administer access management and apply security best practices surrounding IAM based access and roles.
- Migrate and manage the orchestration of legacy workloads to modern containerization technologies such as docker and Kubernetes to improve deployment time, BCDR, and robust scaling. This will include the buildout and administration of any Linux OS virtual servers hosting the containers.
- Use Infrastructure as Code templates such as Terraform, CloudFormation templates, Google Cloud Deployment Manager.
- Use automation and configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, or automated infrastructure deployment, management, and configuration.
- Design, manage and secure VPCs, transit gateways, global networks, and VPN tunnels to ensure secure and reliable communication between cloud services and on-premises infrastructure.
- Secure networks and TCP & UDP protocols such as SSH, NTP, DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, SNMP, SMB, NFS and syslog.
- Utilize cloud monitoring and log management tools (e.g., CloudWatch and Splunk) to monitor the health, availability, and performance of cloud environments.
- Integral with evaluating and remediating security weakness within RealTruck cloud environments and collaborating with the Cyber Security team where needed.
- Optimize resource usage and costs through effective cloud architecture, cost management tools, and best practices.
- Document cloud architectures, processes, and configurations.
- Regularly communicate status updates, risks, resolution plans, and milestones to cross-functional teams.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field or 5+ years of experience with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices, specifically with AWS and GCP required.
- 3+ years of experience with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices, specifically with AWS and GCP required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position is subject to Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls require exertion of force greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
