We’re actively seeking a talented Sr Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud DevOps Team in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha NE.
This role is hybrid. We believe in empowering our employees to get work done both in and out of the office.
As a Sr Cloud Engineer you’ll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by building the cloud foundation used by a variety of application development teams. You will fill a role that sits on a team of 6 people people in PL Technology, Corporate Division. Your colleagues will include other Cloud Engineers, SecOps and Cloud Operations professionals. .
How you’ll help move us forward:
· Collaborate with Application Developers, Cloud Engineers and Architects to determine the appropriate Cloud Services that will meet the business requirements.
· Configure cloud services, including establishing and/or communicating strategies for networking (VPCs, VPCEs, Access Points), security groups, roles and policies.
· Create runbooks and ensure the operational readiness of the delivered solution has been met.
· Build operational services and solutions to ensure Cloud accounts are secure, monitored, data is protected, and systems & services are recoverable in the event of a failure with the Cloud provider.
· Ensure security of all assets in the cloud by integrating security best practices for shared secrets, key rotation, and other security requirements. Work with our corporate security team to enforce policies and deploy cloud security tools to protect and monitor access
· Work within a Scrum team to prioritize and organize work efforts
· Ensure end-to-end availability and performance of mission critical services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence; eventually automate response to all non-exceptional service conditions
· Experienced with CI/CD pipelines and train application owners on building Azure ADO CI/CD pipelines for their application code
· Build IaC using scripting such as Terraform and ability to train others.
· Collaborate with other infrastructure, information security, application and support teams, reviewing design and test plans. Work with architects and other engineers to determine potential gaps and alternative solutions
· Think outside the box to deliver stable, reliable, secure and efficient solutions to drive core technology and digital transformation systems.
· Mentor others in the principles and best practices of cloud-native architecture and design, implementation strategies and software development methodologies
· Communicate complex details in a way that people can understand
· Serve as an expert within the organization. Interpret internal or external business issues and recommend process, product, or service improvements
Tech & Tools You’ll Use
Agile methodology, Amazon Web Services, Ansible, Terraform, CyberArk, Azure DevOps Pipelines, Programming languages such as Python, Java, Node.JS
The experience you bring:
· 4+ years experience in an applicable cloud, DevOps, SecOps or software engineering role
· 4+ years hands-on experience in building cloud infrastructure or cloud-native applications via IaC, preferably in AWS.
· Minimum of 2 AWS certifications, excluding AWS Practitioner
· Experience with AWS services such as: EC2, EBS, EFS, S3, Glacier, ECR, ELB, Lambda, Fargate, Auto Scaling, Cost Explorer, System Manager, Trusted Advisor, RDS, Redshift, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, Cost Optimization and overall AWS account management.
· Experience with Linux: CentOS, RedHat, AL2, Ubuntu and Windows OS.
· Experience scripting using Terraform, Python, JSON and/or Cloudformation.
What makes you stand out:
· BS in Computer Science and/or Engineering, or equivalent experience and certifications.
· Experience with CloudGuard Dome9, Imperva, Terraform,/TFE, Azure ADO, Ansible, CyberArk products, Splunk, SonarQube, Qualys and Logic Monitor.
