Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer to manage and optimize our Azure-based infrastructure and support Windows Server environments. This role is a critical role for maintaining secure, compliant, and efficient cloud operations while assisting system administrators with on-premises and virtual server tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, Windows Server administration, and automation tools, with a solid understanding of federal compliance requirements.

MUST BE LOCAL TO THE WASHINGTON, D.C., VIRGINIA, MARYLAND AREA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage existing Azure environment (VMs, networking, storage, security, and automation) - approximately 50 M365 users and 10 VMs.
  • Manage Microsoft 365 tenant-level configurations, licensing, compliance settings, and Teams Voice integration.
  • Support cloud-based identity and access controls using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Conditional Access, and MFA.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure with tools such as ARM templates, Terraform, and PowerShell.
  • Monitor cloud environments using native and third-party tools for performance, security, and cost optimization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the Azure environment, including performance, functionality, and integration problems.
  • Assist system administrators with server tasks, patching, and troubleshooting Windows Server VMs and laptop Operating Systems
  • Ensure all implementations adhere to federal guidelines (FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-53).
  • Maintain tickets, change logs, and infrastructure documentation.

Preferred Skills and Tools:

  • Deep understanding of the Microsoft 365 suite, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and other services.
  • Strong Knowledge of Azure services: Virtual Machines, Virtual Network, VPN Gateway, Firewall, Storage, Security Center, Defender for Cloud, and Backup.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, architecture, and security.
  • Expertise in managing user identities and access controls.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell for automation.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud security principles and best practices.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams. 
  • Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Sentinel (SIEM integration)
  • Microsoft Purview for governance and data lifecycle management
  • Microsoft Teams Voice architecture and integration with SBCs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or architecture roles
  • U.S. Citizenship required by government agency
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments in an enterprise/government setting
  • Preferred Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator, M365 Enterprise Admin Expert
