On Call Computer Solutions is seeking a skilled Azure Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain secure Azure Government cloud environments for our public sector and regulated clients.
This role is responsible for building and operating Azure landing zones, implementing governance and security controls, and ensuring reliable and cost-optimized infrastructure deployments.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Azure networking, governance, monitoring, and infrastructure deployment, and can work collaboratively with engineering, security, and project teams to deliver production-ready environments.
Provision Azure Government subscriptions and configure Management Groups.
Deploy Azure Landing Zones, including VNets, subnets, NSGs, route tables, and private DNS zones.
Deploy and configure core Azure services including:
Virtual Machines
Azure App Services
Azure Storage Accounts
Azure Key Vault
Azure SQL and other database services
Configure site-to-site VPN or ExpressRoute connectivity between client environments and Azure Gov.
Implement secure network segmentation and routing.
Validate connectivity between on-premise networks and Azure workloads.
Implement Azure Policy for compliance and governance.
Configure Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) using least-privilege principles.
Deploy and configure Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
Deploy Azure Monitor and Log Analytics workspaces.
Configure alerts, dashboards, and performance monitoring.
Assist with cutover validation and performance testing during migrations.
Implement Azure Backup and disaster recovery strategies.
Validate backup systems through test restores and DR exercises.
Configure Azure Cost Management, including budgets, alerts, and tagging strategies.
Work with engineering teams to optimize resource utilization and cost efficiency.
Create and maintain infrastructure documentation and operational runbooks.
Document architecture, deployment procedures, and operational processes.
The Azure Engineer will be measured by the successful delivery of:
Deployed Azure Government infrastructure per approved architecture
Validated network connectivity between Azure and client environments
Azure Policy compliance dashboards showing green status
RBAC access matrix implemented according to the least-privilege model
Monitoring and alerting are fully configured and operational
Backup and disaster recovery validated through successful test restores
Infrastructure documentation and operational runbooks completed
Azure Cost Management budgets and alerts are configured
3+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure
Experience with Azure Government environments
Strong knowledge of:
Azure Networking (VNets, NSGs, routing)
Azure Policy and governance
RBAC and identity management
Azure Monitor and Log Analytics
Experience implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions
Familiarity with Azure Cost Management and tagging strategies
Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
Microsoft certifications such as:
Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500)
Experience with:
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM)
Microsoft Defender for Cloud
Azure Landing Zone architecture
Government compliance frameworks (NIST, FedRAMP, CJIS)
Cloud infrastructure design
Security-first architecture
Documentation and process discipline
Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
